Were Christ And His Followers A Cult?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi R____,

I truly believe that all you want is to know what is the mind of God, what is the Truth, to know God and to know Christ. What family friends think of us means nothing to the man who seeks only to know and live by the mind of Christ.

1Co 2:16  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

True believers have always been “cast out of the church” and considered a cult ever since the days of Phygellus and Hermogenes, and Alexander the coppersmith with Paul, and Diotrephes with John. As I have said before, the apostasy of the church was an accomplished fact before either Paul or John had died.

2Ti 1:15  This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
2Ti 4:14  Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
2Ti 4:15  Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
2Ti 4:16  At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
3Jn 1:9  I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
3Jn 1:10  Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

But it is those who are willing to be rejected and separated by the Truth who will receive the blessing which the rest of “the seed of Abraham” will not inherit.

Gen 49:22  Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; [ whose] branches run over the wall:
Gen 49:23  The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot [ at him], and hated him:
Gen 49:24  But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty [ God] of Jacob; (from thence [ is] the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
Gen 49:25  [ Even] by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
Gen 49:26  The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

“Many are called but few are chosen” is another way of saying ‘a small cult will be chosen,” and that small cult will be those who would rather be separated by the truth than to be united in a lie.
Babylon is our brothers in Christ. They are “Abraham’s seed.” It was “Jews which believed on Him” who wanted Christ dead.

Joh 8:31  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [ then] are ye my disciples indeed;

Joh 8:37  I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.

We are not the ones who have left the Truth. We remain faithful to God’s Word, and ‘let the chips fall where they may.’ It is they who “Have no place in them for Christ’s words” who have separated us from their fellowship over whether to remain faithful to our Father or remain faithful to each other. Joseph is the Old Testament type of God’s elect.

Gen 37:2  These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.

Every time we remain faithful to the Truth, which is Christ, we are “bringing to our Father their evil report concerning the things that take place while we are “feeding the flock with our brothers.” Joseph’s ten brothers are Babylon the great, and Babylon is populated with men like Alexander, Phygellus, Hermogenes and Diotrephes, who will not tolerate being exposed for the false prophets they are. So it is those who are faithful to the words of their Father while feeding the flock” who are always “cast out of the church” by their own ten brothers.
But the rewards for being separated from our brothers far outweigh the trials we now must endure.

Rom 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

So be patient and remain faithful. It will all be for your good in the end.
Your brother in Christ.
