The Christ of Christ

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi R____,

Thank you for your question. I think you are quoting something from the website:

Now we come to “the first begotten of the dead…”  Jesus Christ, and His Christ are both “the first begotten of the dead.” We are His body which is still on this earth and not yet “out of the world.”

…and then you ask:

The answer is, no, the Father is not the anointed of Christ, rather Christ is anointed of His Father, and we as Christ’s elect are Christ’s anointed.”

Luk 4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me [Christ], because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

God the Father “anointed and sent” Christ. Christ now tells us that He has anointed and sent us, just as His Father anointed and sent Him:

1Jn 2:27  But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Joh 20:21  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

Read the study notes on the Dallas 2007 conference entitled The Christ of Christ. That study goes into depth, demonstrating that Christ has sent His elect to do the same thing His Father sent Him to do. The depth of this truth leads the spirit to these statements:

1Jn 4:17  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Luk 10:16  He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

So Christ’s elect are His anointed, because the word ‘Christ’ simply means ‘anointed’. Christ has anointed His elect and has sent them as His Father sent Him. It is always the one who is sent who is anointed by the one who does the sending, so there is no way the Father could ever be Christ’s anointed:

Heb 7:7  And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
1Co 11:3  But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ is God.

On the other hand, we are blessed and sent by Christ and because of that we are the anointed of Christ – the Christ of Christ:

Act 2:36  Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Christ is both Lord and Christ, and as such now has His own Christ:

Act 4:26  The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

Rev 11:15  And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Christ was also a God as He freely admitted:

Joh 10:33  The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
Joh 10:34  Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
Joh 10:35  If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
Joh 10:36  Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Is Christ really a God? Yes, indeed He is. He is even called “the everlasting Father” and “the Almighty”. It is simply understood in scripture that this is also “except in the throne”.

Isa 9:6  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Gen 17:1  And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Rev 1:8  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

So it is that we have this final statement concerning our God and His Christ:

Rev 12:10  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

I hope you will look at the notes and listen to that 2007, Dallas conference, Bible study on The Christ of Christ, and along with this e-mail, I hope you can now see that we are Christ’s Christ and He is the Christ of His Father, but His Father could never be Christ’s Christ.

Your brother in the Christ of Christ,

Mike
