What Must I Do To Be Saved?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi S____,
Thank you for your question.
When you ask “What must I do to be saved, is it as written in Act 2:38?”  The answer is yes it is as written in Act 2:38, along with Mat 4:4, Mat 10:22, and Psa 119:160.
Look at these verses:

Act 2:38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [ even] as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Act 2:40  And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

“With many other words” tells us that Peter did not teach a ten second sinner’s prayer doctrine.  Peter was very much aware that salvation is a life long process of “dying daily” to the flesh.
Here is what Christ said was needed for salvation:

Mat 4:4  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

And this:

Mat 10:22  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Do you want the Truth of what is needed for salvation? Then you must know Christ who is the Truth. To know Him you must know His word, and to know His word, you must know it’s “sum,” it’s overall message, and not isolated verses that seem to say what the flesh wants to hear.

Psa 119:160  The sum of thy word is truth; And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth for ever.

Here are your words to me:
“I am so confused in the religious doctrine. If it is possible, may you help for the sake of my salvation. Please pray that salvation may be mine and that my name may be written in heaven.”
