What Do Good Men Do With Evil?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi A____,
Thank you for your encouraging words,

I looked at that blog link, and I have to say that it was identical to my own response so far as questioning why Miss California was even in that pageant if she were truly concerned about family values. It is the willingness of Christians to be drug into taking sides when there is no side to take that guarantees victory for the Adversary. That is what is true any time we try to “resist evil.” Our resistance to evil is within, not without. If Miss California really wanted to resist evil, then she should never have gotten involved in that pageant.
But that does not mean that I condemn Miss California. She is where God has placed her. Her days were “written in His book before there were any of them.”

Psa 139:16 Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was none of them.

With that verse in mind as it relates to Faith At Work, I must comment that I was disappointed at the deemphasizing of proper Biblical doctrine in this statement near the top of that page, where the question is asked and answered”
What is Faith at Work? According to its official web site:

  • FAW has always emphasized practical experience instead of doctrine, “how to” instead of “should.”

This statement explaining who is FAW, is in complete contradiction to the scripture quoted under the title at the top of the page:

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (1Jn 4:1)

But God has given it to the Adversary to know what appeals to our flesh, and he uses it. FAW is doing exactly what God has FAW doing, so I hope you are not offended when I say I am disappointed. That is from a completely personal point of view and not from being disappointed with what God is doing. Only God is aware exactly where any of us are spiritually at any given moment, and that is where He has us all.
I just received a link to a site that wants me to “do your part” to keep the memory of the holocaust alive. One of the subheads was a quote from one Edmond Burke which says, “All that is needed for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.” The problem under discussion is the fact that the teaching of the holocaust has been removed from the school curriculum in the United Kingdom because it was found to be offensive to Muslims in the U. K. The implication is that the U. S. is next.
The day before yesterday I got another link to another blog which was dedicated to the same spirit, but that one was all about a South African man who was in a church when it was attacked by a group of  thugs. This one man was armed and fought back, and when the assailants saw one of their own go down they fled the church like the cowards they were. The obvious message is ‘arm yourself and protect yourself.’ The man even quoted Christ telling His disciples “Sell your cloak and buy a sword.”
So anyone who believes Christ’s admonitions to “Love your enemy, and resist not evil,” is an obvious idiot according to ‘great men of God,’ and the true doctrine of Jesus Christ is ridiculed as stupid and foolish, which is exactly what he said would happen:

Mat 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Mat 5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Christ’s “name’ sake” is His Word and His doctrine, and to stand for His and His doctrine is to counted a virtual fool:

1Co 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

“Lose your life and you will find it” simply does not compute in the mind of the natural man, and yet it makes perfectly logical sense to the mind of the spirit of Christ.

Mat 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

God is using all things to accomplish His work.

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

“All things” certainly includes what what He is doing through this link you sent me, and through all the other works he is working. Nevertheless, good men from a Biblical perspective “Love God and keep His commandments.” Nothing else is love.

1Jn 5:2 Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

My prayer is that you and I will remain faithful to His Words and not be caused to be drawn away from Him and His doctrine by any and all efforts of the Adversary. Whether we do has all been “written in His book… before the world began.”

Psa 139:16 Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was none of them. (ASV)

2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called [ us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
Tit 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Christ told Peter that the Adversary wanted to sift him. Christ though had prayed for Peter and I pray that prayer  for you and me.

Luk 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired [ to have] you, that he may sift [ you] as wheat:
Luk 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Christ did not tell Peter that He would not be “sifted.” The chaff has to be sifted out of us all. That very night, before the cock crowed, Peter denied ever knowing Christ. Yet Peter’s faith did not fail, and “when he was converted “on the day of Pentecost, Peter was fearless.

I pray that is what is written in God’s book concerning you and me, but to find out we are required to “endure to the end.”
Your brother in Christ,
Mike
