The Evil That is Mythical Creatures

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi H____,

Thank you for asking me for scripture concerning the mystical creatures our children are confronted with through the entertainment industry. In some cases, children have been given over to this spirit and completely identify with all these beasts which are either half man or have been given the ability to talk like men.
The scripture which comes to mind concerning this seductive spirit which is afflicting our children is in Romans.

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

“The invisible things of Him [ God]” refers to who God is and what God is doing. Who God is, “is love”.

1Jn 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Those who ‘know not God’ are those who ‘become vain in their imaginations’ and personify, humanize, and glorify the creature at the expense and the exclusion of the Creator. What this will always lead to is the worship and service of “the creature more than the Creator”.
Instead of teaching that “the creature” is a symbol of our doomed “old man” who must be judged and “die” before he can become the “new creature” which God is in the process of creating, these “vain imaginations” make the beast out to be the end product, and this always leads us to the ‘worship of the creature’ and the spiritual perversions found in the rest of this first chapter of Romans.
The fact is that the Hollywood mindset teaches us all to “worship the beast” within ourselves, and all of these movies like the Harry Potter series and the Chronicles of Narnia, The Clash of The Titans, etc. do nothing less than reinforce that false doctrine. It was this very spirit of worshiping the creature which led C. S. Lewis to be an atheist before he converted to Babylonian Christianity. It is natural for us all to do this.

Rev 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

I will pray that the Lord will inspire you to say the right words to be a light to your children and to help them to see that their adoration and worship needs to be given to Christ and His Father.
I hope I have said something here that will help you to do that.
Your brother and fellow servant.
Mike
