Is Christ Part of The Elect

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi J____,
Thank you for your question.
Yes, Jesus was “elect of God” “from before the foundation of the world.” Jesus was called of God “before the world was.”

1Pe 1:20  Who [ Christ] verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

Rev 13:8  And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

God’s elect are all “foreordained” and “predestinated” to be God’s first sons:

Eph 1:5  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

2Ti 1:9  Who hath saved us, and called [ us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began
Tit 1:2  In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Christ’s part in God’s elect is as the “Head of the body.” So Christ is first and preeminent in all things.”

Col 1:18  And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Col 1:19  For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

What is so exciting about all of this is that just as Christ serves His Father, we serve Christ:

Joh 20:21  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

1Jn 4:17  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

So it takes us to fill up Christ before He can fill up His Father, and this is all by the design of the Father.

Eph 1:18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19  And what [ is] the exceeding greatness of his power to us- ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 1:20  Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set [ him] at his own right hand in the heavenly [ places],
Eph 1:21  Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him [ to be] the head over all [ things] to the church,
Eph 1:23   Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Christ’s inheritance is “in his saints.” And it is “the church… the saints” which fill Him [ Christ] who fills all in all [ the Father].”
I hope this helps you to understand Christ’s part in the elect of God. You maintain this interest in the Word of God, be an example to the other youth in your life, and “let no man despise your youth:”

1Ti 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
