Growing To Maturity

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi M____,

Thank you for your question. You say your desire is for the people in your fellowship to have an encounter with the living word and grow into maturity, and you ask for my counsel. I very much appreciate that attitude in you.
The one thing that is first needed to grow into maturity is a desire for the sincere milk of the word “that you might grow thereby.”

1Pe 2:2  As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

That is why Christ first told Peter to “feed My lambs”. Afterward He tells Peter to “feed My sheep”.

Joh 21:15  So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, [ son] of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
Joh 21:16  He saith to him again the second time, Simon, [ son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
Joh 21:17  He saith unto him the third time, Simon, [ son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

But as that paper on God’s strong delusion demonstrates, the milk of God’s word has been twisted by the Adversary into being the strong meat of God’s Word, and Gal 4:1-2 and Heb 6 teaches us that if we do not get beyond that point, we are no better than a slave to sin. In other words, we are in God’s strong delusion.
Since you have asked me how to get beyond the milk and into maturity, I would recommend that you begin at the very beginning of the Revelation series which are posted on iswasandwillbe. com and discover what the revelation of Jesus Christ is all about. It would really be a blessing to have you with us on our live ustream broadcasts at 11 A. M. Eastern Standard Time every Sunday morning. You could watch the previous Ustream broadcasts at any time.

A letter in the FAQ section under the Milk Doctrine section entitled The Purpose for the Six Milk Doctrines might also be a helpful starting point.
Maturing in Christ is the process of living Christ’s life in you, and that is not a very popular doctrine.
God bless you. You remain in my prayers.

Your brother in Christ,
Mike
