Being Ready To Give An Answer

It has been a pleasure getting to know you through your writings.
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of taking a long ride back to Dallas from Beaumont with my mother in law. She had come to visit us, so we were carrying her back home. From the start I began asking her questions about the tree of good and evil. Why were good and evil found in the same tree, and so forth. With aid of the Holy Spirit, I began to bring out the myth of free will and the plan for man as it was laid out by our Lord Jesus Christ. She fancies herself as being well read in the Bible. I was frankly astounded by her lack of faith in the bible. The conversation went from her praising me for my knowledge of spiritual things to her cursing me by telling me that you know a false prophet by the fruit it bears. Thus calling me a false prophet dealing out thorns and thistles (I thought that was very flattering actually) did not they do the same to Jesus.
You know she couldn’t accept that she was a beast and that she had nowhere to fall because we were all created from dust. We ended up staying several days with my wife’s father and mother, and when we got ready to leave she had left a book on the table that was titled “What the Bible Really Teaches” by Jehovah’s witness. You see that was what I once was. I have to say that I have read several emails to you that try to label you as students of the JW’s doctrine. These people couldn’t see a hole in the ground if they fell in it. Maybe they read your writings, but they surely do not see or hear them. Wish I could have attended the Bible Conference. Maybe one day, Lord willing, we will meet in person.
A spiritual brother,
Kenny
Hi Kenny,
I’m glad you are learning from iswasandwillbe. com.
As you probably know we are told plainly that we are all beasts:
Ecc 3:18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
To acknowledge this truth is to admit that we are not immortal spirits. To acknowledge this truth is to deny that God is tri- une. And when we do acknowledge God’s sovereign hand in the lives of every man who has ever lived we dethrone that beast, that man of sin, and to set Christ up as the ruler of our hearts and minds. The man of sin will not give up his throne in our lives without a giant struggle. So “be ready always to give an answer to him that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you,” but be sure that a question is asked before you place the pearl of great price before the hooves of spiritual swine. They will take any opportunity to turn and rend you.
1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
I think you are probably already aware of this admonition, but it seems appropriate to remind you of it if your mother- in- law is a J. W. It is very rare for a J. W., like you once were, to ever come to where you are. That takes a miracle from God to open blinded eyes. So be thankful for your blessings and be ready to “give an answer” to those who God will send to you with a question.
Mike
