The Symbolism of Hair

I had some thoughts on hair and thought I would pass them on. Thank you all and hope you have a day filled with the continual thoughts of God’s perfect predestined plan in each of our lives. It’s easy to praise Him in the Day, but the Night is harder for our flesh to accept. But medically it makes sense because the doctors of the flesh say that the physical body heals while we sleep in the night.

Jer 7:29  Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
Jer 7:30 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.

Their own works, as seen by them, are separate from God. Setting up of their own works in the house of God is the idea of freewill and the abomination of Desolation or “every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was ONLY EVIL CONTINUALLY” (Gen 6:5). This is why God tells them to cut off their hair, for hair is a semblance of glory.

Hair = glory

1 Co 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a GLORY to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

1Ti 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; NOT WITH BROIDED HAIR , or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

Mat 5:36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because THOU CANST NOT MAKE ONE HAIR white or black.

We cannot make one single hair, which symbolizes works, WHITE (works of God, predestined in Christ) or BLACK (works thought to be of self, independent from God, and for salvation).

Dan 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was WHITE as snow, and the hair of his head like the PURE WOOL: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

Rev 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became BLACK AS SACKCLOTH OF HAIR, and the moon became as blood;

1Co 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, IT IS A SHAME unto him?

He is showing that his glory comes from himself. However, because woman is of man, her hair is glorifying the man from whom she came. Being a symbol of the church, her hair typifies the glorification of Christ and not herself. Long hair on a man would typify glorifying man’s works as being from himself and not from God. Cutting his hair shows he was created by God, and all glory goes to the Creator of himself and his works.

Rev 9:8 And they had hair as the HAIR OF WOMEN, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions (the self-righteous religious hordes with whom we all flew.).

Mat 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

If hairs symbolize the glory of God in Christ, then this verse is really telling us that all works are done by God through Christ our Head, and we cannot change them or make them white or black which explains the next verse.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
