The Stars of Heaven

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Good morning B____,
I enjoyed your demonstration about how giving things to God impresses Him. This is what really ‘impresses’ God:

1Sa 15:22  And Samuel said, Hath the LORD [ as great] delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey [ is] better than sacrifice, [ and] to hearken than the fat of rams.

Hos 6:6  For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

I am constantly amazed at how many times we overlook the word “not” in scripture. “Not sacrifice… not a Jew… these are not the seed of Abraham,” etc.

Jer 5:31  The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means [‘Give me 10% of your gross income’]; and my people love [ to have it] so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

It is all part of God’s working of all things together for His purpose and for our good. I thank Him for it and pray that He always keeps me grateful for the incredible blessings I have been given at His hand. It really is a blessing to be counted worthy to suffer for His name’s sake. ‘His name’s sake’ is His word and anyone who knows and does His Word will suffer in this flesh for doing so.
You say:
What seems to be a common thread in the O. T is that Abraham’s seed and the children of Israel are likened again and again to the “stars of heaven”(Gen 22.7, 26.4, Deu 1.10, 4.19, 10.22, 28.62 etc etc)

I guess what I’m having trouble grasping Mike is why it is of spiritual significance that the “stars fall from Heaven”?

Is it just another way of saying “Babylon the Harlot has fallen”? (Rev 14.2, 18.2)

Is it just saying that once we come to see our true spiritual state that all the ministers of Christendom who say they are Abraham’s seed but despise his word fall from our “Heavens”?

In answer to your question, I am going to remind you what and where is heaven. You are right to remember that Abraham’s children are said to be as the stars of heaven for number. But they are also said to be as the sand of the sea for number.

Heb 11:12  Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

Now with this verse in mind, I want you also to consider this verse of God’s Word:

Heb 9:23  [ It was] therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these [ the blood of calves and goats]; but the heavenly things themselves [ you and me] with better sacrifices than these.

It is not one person in a thousand who understands that the heavens need cleansing. And it is even fewer who understand what and where heaven is.
So what I am saying is that your assessment is exactly correct.
“[ It is] just another way of saying ‘Babylon the Harlot has fallen’? (Rev 14.2, 18.2)[ It is] just saying that once we come to see our true spiritual state that all the ministers of Christendom who say they are Abraham’s seed but despise his word fall from our ‘Heavens’?”
The “stars falling from heaven” of Mat 24 are the powers and principalities within our heavens which must fall before we can even recognize our blinded and hopeless condition.
I hope this helps you to see that stars are angels in our heavens and that not all angels are “angels of light.”

Rev 1:20  The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

Rev 9:1  And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

Let me know if I have not covered this to your satisfaction.
Mike
P. S. I certainly will pass along your words of gratitude to those who help out so much.
