Short Sighted Christians and Healings or Miracles

Hi G____,
Thank you for your question. The Truth is this:

Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Joh 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Notice verse 10 very closely:

the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
To Christ His Words were His Works. If this is not so, then Christ is a bald- faced liar when He made this statement:

Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

But Christ is not a bald- faced liar. Christ is “the way, the Truth and the life.” He cannot lie. So then, the Truth is that Christ is far more concerned with your spiritual health than He is concerned with your physical health which, in lacking, He actually uses to build up your spiritual health:

2Co 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities [ poor eyesight or any other “infirmity of the flesh], in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Christ said that “these signs shall follow them that believe:”

Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Mar 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
Mar 16:20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with [ them], and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Those who have signs following are those who believe. Now just notice what else is true of “those who believed on Him:”

Joh 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
Joh 8:31 (a)Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
Joh 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
Joh 8:47 He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
Joh 8:44 Ye are of [ your] father the devil , and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Here is what Christ Himself has to say of those who believe on Him:
“Ye seek to kill me… because you are not of God. You are of your father the devil…”

What this tells us is that all new believers are still carnal, and even though they may not be new believers, if they do not go beyond the six ‘milk’ doctrines of Heb 6:1-2, they are still carnal babes in Christ, even though “these signs are following them [ and] they come behind in no gift:”

Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with newtongues;
Mar 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
1Co 1:1 Paul, called [ to be] an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes [ our] brother,
1Co 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called [ to be] saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
1Co 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

They “believe on Jesus,” they have these signs following them…” they are “sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints…” they “come behind in no gift.”
And yet what is their true spiritual state? Here is the spiritual state of all who demand a physical “sign.”

1Co 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, [ even] as unto babes in Christ.
1Co 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able [ to bear it], neither yet now are ye able.
1Co 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas [ there is] among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
1Co 3:4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I [ am] of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

Why are they “yet carnal?” Here is why, and it is also right from the mouth of our Savior:

Mat 12:39 (a) But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign;

Even the ‘baptism’ is “with the washing of water by the word,” not ‘the washing of water by the water:’

Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

All of Christ’s miracles and physical healings in his time on this earth in the flesh and all of His physical healings even now are only types and shadows of what really is of value to God. They are mere shadows of “greater things than these shall ye do.” God is not intent on preserving our physical bodies. He is intent on destroying our physical bodies.

1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

I hope this helps to affirm to you your own words:

The “greater thing will ye” receive than 20/20 vision in your physical eyes Isa 20/20 spiritual vision. Believe me, the latter will last much longer and help you to ‘see’ much, much better than the former.
