Does Gal 4:10 Contrdict Rom 14 and Col 2?

Hi M____,
I am very please that you were not offended by our communication.
I hope to be able to give this a more in depth treatment, but for now read this verse:

Col. 2:16 (CEV)  Don’t let anyone tell you what you must eat or drink. Don’t let them say that you must celebrate the New Moon festival, the Sabbath, or any other festival.

and also notice that it is the weak brother who eats herbs and judges his stronger brother:

Rom 14:1 (Darby)  Now him that is weak in the faith receive, not to the determining of questions of reasoning.
Rom 14:3  Let not him that eateth [ meat] despise him that eateth not [ meat]; and let not him which eateth not [ meat] judge him that eateth [ meat]: for God hath received him.

What Paul is saying is that your weak “devoted Catholic” brother should not be determining any questions you may have from his weaker, less mature position. A meat eater ought never give up his meat for the sake of a weaker brother’s herbs, but at the same time, you should receive him in fellowship so long as he does not try to make determinations about what you ought to be believing and doing, whether it is eating herbs or observing days, months, times and years or anything else. And yet you are not to try to force a weaker brother to eat your meat which he is not able to digest at this point. So be patient with him and don’t let him bring you down to his standards.

Rom 14:15  But if thy brother be grieved with [ thy] meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

I hope that helps to clear up what appears to you be a contradiction.
Your brother in Christ,
Mike
