Deu 23:9-11 What Does Going Outside the ‘Camp’ Signify?

[Study Aired April 2, 2021]

Deu 23:9  When the host goeth forth against thine enemies, then keep thee from every wicked thing.
Deu 23:10  If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:
Deu 23:11  But it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall wash himself with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp again.

Before we can understand these verses, we must know what the “camp” signifies to us. If we are told to go outside the camp to become clean, then what does it mean to go outside the camp?  We must understand what “the camp” signifies. Below is an excerpt from the study called What the Camp, the Court and the Tabernacle of Israel Foreshadow

The spiritual meaning for the camp is the world as a whole and the world system; how mankind sees God, worships God and understands themselves from a freewill thought. This tells us why Hebrews tells us:

Heb 13:14  For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

We do not have a continuing city in this world that is made of world thought, which we know as Babylon. The city which we seek is being made up of the elect, and we are being made priests and kings in that city. Now, in this age, we are told to go “outside the camp” bearing His reproach”. What is His reproach?

Deu 23:10  If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:

When uncleanness chances us by night, it means when we are given to see the truth and see what comes from us is unclean. The world does not see that what comes from them is unclean because they do not and cannot see themselves in the night, with no light. We know from the word of God that seed represents Christ and to pass that Seed on we must see what we are in the night – unclean. Before we can be used to give the Seed to others, we must see ourselves as unclean, that whatever seed comes from us is only in the night, in a dream, not reality and causes us to be filthy, unclean.

Gal 3:16  Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Mat 13:18  Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
Mat 13:19  When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
Mat 13:20  But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
Mat 13:21  Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
Mat 13:22  He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Mat 13:23  But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Jud 1:8  Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

We know that we live in a dark world, inwardly, before coming to the truth, and outwardly the whole world is in darkness.

Joh 3:19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Joh 3:20  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Joh 3:21  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Eph 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

When we speak of evil, that men love darkness and the darkness of this world, we must know that this darkness has its beginning in the false doctrine of freewill. This false doctrine is the seed of darkness. It is the seed that comes from us in the night and is what we say comes from us; it’s our making. To those who see the truth, see that what comes from us without knowing the truth, is nothing but darkness and has no LIGHT.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2  The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh 1:6  There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
Joh 1:9  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Joh 1:10  He was in the world, and the world was made [G5633-aorist tense] by him, and the world knew him not [G5627-aorist tense].  [My kosmos/world was made by Him, and yet I did not know Him. However, the entire world literally does not know that we are in it, are BEING made, and it does not know us. We are being made now and yet it does not appear what we shall be (1Jn 3:2).]
Joh 1:11  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Joh 1:15  John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Joh 1:16  And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
Joh 1:17  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Joh 1:18  No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Because all of mankind lives in darkness they cannot go outside the camp. It is only given to the elect of God to go outside the camp where we are cleansed from our uncleanness that befell us in the camp at night. It is only given to the elect to see their uncleanness AS UNCLEANNESS.

Heb 13:9  Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines [uncleaness of the night]. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.
Heb 13:10  We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. [divers and strange doctrines of the city from beneath]
Heb 13:11  For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
Heb 13:12  Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
Heb 13:13  Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
Heb 13:14  For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

We are told not to be carried around by the doctrines/seeds of the night, strange doctrines which serve the city that now is and is in bondage with her children, the world. The city that is Agar also represents the camp of the world which is still asleep in uncleanness. It is also called Sodom and Egypt and which we know as Babylon.

Gal 4:22  For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
Gal 4:23  But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
Gal 4:24  Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
Gal 4:25  For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
Gal 4:26  But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Gal 4:27  For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
Gal 4:28  Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
Gal 4:29  But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
Gal 4:30  Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
Gal 4:31  So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Outwardly we are not the seed of the night, we are the seed of the Day. Although we are born in the flesh like the seed of the night, we are predestined to be the seed of The Light, Jesus Christ. It is a two-fold understanding of who we are and what we are in the flesh and what we are in the spirit; what the world is in the flesh and what the world is in the spirit. We are born seeds of the night in the flesh, but are sent outside the camp/the world to be cleansed and become seeds of the Day. The world stays in darkness as we live in the light outside the camp. When darkness falls, we enter the camp again. This second darkness is the thousand-year reign, when we are the light of Christ to the world as a whole, but that light is darkness to them because they are still seeds of the night.

Joh 1:10  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

The words above “He was” is G5713 and is in the imperfect tense-which means a continual or repeated action. Christ continually and repeatedly showed Who He was, but the world could not see Him, just as He for years showed Himself to us and we could not see Him.

It is in this second evening/second age we are brought back to witnessing to the camp/world, cleansed from the uncleanness of the night.

Rev 11:1  And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
Rev 11:2  But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
Rev 11:3  And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

Rev 11:8  And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

When Moses spoke to God, he did so in the tabernacle that was outside the camp.

Exo 33:7  And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp [outside the camp of the world and outside the city that now is, and is in bondage with her children of the world, the city called Sodom and Egypt, also known as Babylon, (Rev 11:8, Rev 18:10)].
Exo 33:8  And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.
Exo 33:9  And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses.
Exo 33:10  And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.
Exo 33:11  And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp [Moses, who represents the law of the flesh, turns back to the camp/world to keep the camp/world in bondage to the law of the flesh, but Joshua, the son of Nun, who represents Christ, stays in the tabernacle, stays in us as the law of the spirit.]: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

What chances us by night is uncleanness, it is the evidence we are unclean and cannot stop uncleanness from coming from us. Uncleanness chancing us by night is the very thing we do when we speak the false doctrines of Babylon, especially the false doctrine of free moral agency. This natural occurrence is the very proof we have no control over the flesh. We are not free moral agents separately and independently from God, but slaves to our own flesh and do whatever it dictates to us. It is a witness to what we are and what comes from us. We cannot cease from sin as we suppose we can, we are enslaved to the flesh until the Son of God begins to deliver us from it.

2Pe 2:14  Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

Our fleshly eyes are so full of adultery that we cannot stop the flesh from spreading its seed. We love the flesh because we love to admire ourselves, to put our flesh on a pedestal and pleasure ourselves with ourselves. We bring ourselves so much pleasure in the flesh, in the night, where we live chained in darkness of doctrine, enslaved and not even knowing it.

Jud 1:6  And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

If we are the elect, then we are having the judgment of our great day and are sent outside the camp with Christ. We are (in aorist tense) being judged now for our uncleanness which comes from us in the night – the unclean doctrine of free moral agency, the doctrine of freewill. From birth, until our eyes were opened, we were kept in chains under darkness, believing we were independent from our Creator and were, by works of the flesh, gods unto ourselves. This seed of the serpent has impregnated our fleshly mind and puffed up our fleshly bellies with seed unto the serpent.

Gen 3:14  And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Isa 59:5  They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.

What comes from the flesh in the night is doctrines of devils, seed of the serpent that continues to produce more serpents. Whatever receives our seed of the flesh is a child of the devil, a serpent that “goes” (in Qal stem-H8799) upon our belly, from where our desire comes. Our appetites are what moves us in a crooked slithering movement; never straight, but always crooked. Because our ways are crooked in the flesh and cannot be straight, we eat of our own flesh, our own dust from which we are made.

Php 2:15  That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Because we are the elect and are given to see our crookedness, we shall be made straight and made into a rod that will rule/consume all nations as a rod of iron.

Exo 7:10  And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
Exo 7:11  Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
Exo 7:12  For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

Our rod is a serpent to the world, and their rod is a serpent to us, yet the rod of iron will consume/swallow up the rods of the world, the serpents’ doctrines that portrayed something they were not – righteous. The consumption of the world’s rods is a prophesy of how we will consume the world and rule over all that it thought it had produced in the night.

1Th 5:1  But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
1Th 5:2  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1Th 5:3  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

When the Truth is revealed to the world, it will come as a thief in THE NIGHT, because the world is, was and will be in darkness. We will be the uncleanness that will come upon them by chance in their night/darkness. That time will be the thousand-year reign, where we will come into this world while it is in darkness and expose its uncleanness. Right now we are outside the camp, outside the world, being cleansed until nightfall comes on the world, and we will show up without notice, and the world will begin to see its uncleanness. The word of God is a living word. It has many ways of seeing things we cannot see without it and bringing to life things that were dead. These natural words of these verses in Deuteronomy 23:9-11, if taken by fleshly serpent thinking, feeding the flesh, would and have, turned into a new doctrine for the flesh and a new way to glorify the flesh. Thinking that fleshly emissions can actually separate us from what the elect cannot be separated from, their God, Who created the very uncleanness that has made them unclean.

Heb 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb 4:13  Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Col 1:15  Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Col 1:16  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
