Deu 22:13-21, Part 4 – Lo, He hath Given Occasions of Speech Against…My Daughter

[Study Aired February 12, 2021]

Deu 22:13  If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
Deu 22:14  And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
Deu 22:15  Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel’s virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
Deu 22:16  And the damsel’s father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
Deu 22:17  And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
Deu 22:18  And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
Deu 22:19  And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
Deu 22:20  But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
Deu 22:21  Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father’s house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.

The man in these verses who brings the false accusation against the virgin wife is a type of the accuser of the brethren, Satan. He loves to accuse us before the Father because his desire is to murder.

Rev 12:10  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Joh 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

In this study, let’s uncover why the man in Deuteronomy is accusing his wife.  What does it mean to chastise the man, and what does a fine of 100 shekels of silver represent? We must remember that at some point we are each character in this story; the man, both women (the faithful and unfaithful) and the father of the woman.

Mat 4:4  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

We have covered in the past three studies that we are the woman. We have covered in detail how we represent the unfaithful and then the faithful; one with sin and one without. Because we are, in the flesh, the children of Satan, we are the man that accuses the virgin bride of unfaithfulness as we just read, “You are of your father the devil.” We represent this man in the way we see our wife’s unfaithfulness to run around with new doctrine.

We no longer are given to the lusts of men, who desire to see a good show in doctrines of men. The man of sin is like a corrupt friend who wonders why you have changed and don’t want to party it up anymore. The man of sin sees it as an adultery because we have left his doctrine for the doctrine of Christ. We have been drawn away from his way of life which existed in pompous show and not in truth. He wonders, “What has happened to the woman I married who dressed herself up in spiritual makeup, dressed all up in fancy spiritual clothes, spiritually did her hair all up. She’s been running around with another man behind my back.”

1Pe 4:4  Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

To be the innocent wife, we must first be the adulterous wife. We must die before we can live, and we must see ourselves as the adulterous wife who has indeed left her husband to be espoused to another, Christ.

2Co 11:2  For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

There is the hidden manna. We are both women. We must be the curse before we can become the blessing. We must die for committing adultery against our first husband, and that death is the dying to the old man. The old man gets a spirit of jealousy, like we read in Numbers 5:

Num 5:14  And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:

Our old man wants to parade his wife around in pomp and fair, but the wife does not care about the latest hair style, the latest perfume, or being clad in jewelry – which all represent the latest books, the latest tapes, the latest new found doctrine by Babylon.

The old man loves to parade his wife around in these books and tapes, these outward things that seem to make us look religious. I remember years ago it was the “left behind” series, and then it was the “name it and claim it” movement. Then it was all about “Martin Luther” and “John Calvin”. It was all about, “Have you read what so and so said in the book?” We were never satisfied with Christ, had never even read the bible all the way through, and yet, we were buying books about the bible instead of reading the bible itself. Prayer cloths, anointing oil, and holy water from the actual river of Jordan where Christ was baptized! Our eyes were full of adultery and never able to cease from sin.

2Pe 2:14  Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

The man of sin loved his wife in this state because she paraded around in the attire of a harlot. We adorned ourselves with all the mainstream religious garb, and he paraded us around like a trophy wife. However, someone has been “sneaking around, digging under my back fence” as Merle Haggard said in the song “the old man from the mountain coming home”. That someone is Christ.

Mat 24:43  But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Mat 24:44  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

The man of sin wants his wife to be loud and obnoxious, to be seen by all. He does not desire the hidden, quiet wife.

1Pe 3:1  Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
1Pe 3:2  While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
1Pe 3:3  Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4  But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

The man of sin sees his wife as an adulteress because she no longer runs to the excess in which he wants. He claims she has been running around with another man because she has changed. The spirit of jealousy comes upon him, and he wants justice. What he does not know, nor can he know, is that in discovering her desire for another doctrine he has exposed himself. It is common in a marriage that the one who has jealousy is the one who is doing the cheating. They are portraying onto the other what is going on in their own heart. So it is with the man of sin. He is the guilty party, and he must be chastised.

Deu 22:18  And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;

How is he chastised? He is beaten with many stripes, for by stripes we are healed (Isa 53:5). Those stripes come in the form of the death of Christ, which brings us atonement and redemption, symbolized by silver. When we see that we are “the man” and that we are responsible for the death of all the prophets, from Abel to Zacharias, we see that when we paraded around in outward apparel, we were killing the prophets and killing Christ. By our outward adorning, we were saying that we could make ourselves right before God without the testimony of the prophets and without the death of Christ.

Luk 12:47  And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

Isa 53:5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

1Pe 2:24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Mat 23:35  That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

From this we understand that we must be chastised and we must be fined a 100 shekels of silver. Silver is revealed in scripture as atonement and as redemption, (see the study on metals and specifically on silver Silver, Part 1 and Part 2.

So, we see that to be atoned for by the blood of Christ, you must be chastened to know that you need redemption and you need to be atoned for. None of us know we need to be atoned for at first. We think we have done some wrong, but we’re not that bad. We all think we can supply our own righteousness to redeem ourselves. This is not true, and therefore we must be chastened by the LORD with 100 shekels of silver. 10×10=100 and tells us that it is the complete completion of the flesh. 10 symbolizes the completion of the flesh, and when you multiply it by 10, we see it is the completion of the flesh to the completion of the flesh. It is telling us that the atonement and redemption are in aorist tense, and we are being atoned for daily, hourly, minute by minute because we are shown what we are daily, hourly, minute by minute. We are shown daily the completion of the flesh and by this knowledge see more of what needs to be redeemed and atoned for.

Deu 22:19  And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.

The word “amerce” means:

What is the fine we must pay for speaking against Christ? The penalty is death by fire.

Joh 3:18  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Joh 3:19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Joh 3:20  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Joh 3:21  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

1Co 3:13  Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
1Co 3:14  If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Co 3:15  If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Rev 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

When we speak against the church, we are speaking against Christ.

Act 9:4  And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Act 9:5  And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

So, the man who persecutes the woman is the old man, who is driven by the deeds of his father the devil, who hates the woman.

Rev 12:1  And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
Rev 12:2  And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
Rev 12:3  And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
Rev 12:4  And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Rev 12:5  And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
Rev 12:6  And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
Rev 12:7  And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Rev 12:8  And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Rev 12:9  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 12:10  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Our heavens have become clean, we have received the testimony of truth that Christ is the Creator, and we are not. We have turned against the doctrines of devils which has had us enslaved from birth; the doctrines of devils that has said, “Ye are gods.” We know that without Christ we are worms and not gods, but with Christ we are united as one with Him and therefore become gods over the rest of creation who are still dwelling upon the earth – flesh. They are still looking to the flesh for truth, still thinking flesh can know between good and evil not knowing that all the flesh knows comes from doctrines of devils.

Rev 12:12  Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Rev 12:13  And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
Rev 12:14  And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Rev 12:15  And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
Rev 12:16  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
Rev 12:17  And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

The last verse of this chapter tells us that the casting out of Satan with his demons out of our heavens is in aorist tense. It is in ‘is, was and will’ be tense. We are constantly being cleansed from old doctrine, but once the process has begun, it is as leaven that will leaven the whole lump. I have highlighted the aorist process.  I have highlighted the aorist process and all the areas where the aorist tense is used.

Rev 12:7  And there wasG1096 [G5633] war in heaven: Michael and his angels foughtG4170 [G5656] against the dragon; and the dragon foughtG4170 [G5656] and his angels,
Rev 12:8  And prevailedG2480 [G5656] not; neither was their place foundG2147 [G5681] any more in heaven.
Rev 12:9  And the great dragon was cast outG906 [G5681], that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast outG906 [G5681] into the earth, and his angels were cast outG906 [G5681] with him.
Rev 12:10  And I heardG191 [G5656] a loud voiceG saying in heaven, Now is comeG1096 [G5633] salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast downG2598 [G5681], which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11  And they overcameG3528 [G5656] him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they lovedG25 [G5656] not their lives unto the death.
Rev 12:12  Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come downG2597 [G5627] unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Rev 12:13  And when the dragon sawG1492 [G5627] that he was castG906 [G5681] unto the earth, he persecutedG1377 [G5656] the woman which brought forthG5088 [G5627] the man child.
Rev 12:14  And to the woman were givenG1325 [G5681] two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Rev 12:15  And the serpent castG906 [G5627] out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might causeG4160 [G5661] her to be carried away of the flood.
Rev 12:16  And the earth helpedG997 [G5656] the woman, and the earth openedG455 [G5656] her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon castG906 [G5627] out of his mouth.
Rev 12:17  And the dragon was wrothG3710 [G5681] with the woman, and wentG565 [G5627] to makeG4160 [G5658] war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Mat 13:33  Another parable spake heG2980 [G5656] unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman tookG2983 [G5631], and hidG1470 [G5656] in three measures of meal, tillG the whole was leavenedG2220 [G5681].

The leavening of our hearts and minds with the kingdom of God is the same as Satan and his angels being thrown out of our heavens. It is continual and ongoing, like the accusations of the man against the woman in Deuteronomy. The punishment of the man of sin is the redemption of the woman by Christ, her Father. The silver represents our atonement and redemption, and the 100 represents the ongoing completion of the flesh until we are fully redeemed in the first resurrection. The accuser of the brethren is being cast down, and their place in our heavens is being discovered daily by the light of Christ. As the light of Christ, truth exposes darkness, we are coming to The Light, that we may be shown how our deeds are wrought in God. The word “wrought” means the following.

When we are brought to the light or as darkness is exposed in our heavens, we can see that all was done to bring us to truth, everything is “WROUGHT”. All things were created in our lives and consist in our lives for the glory of bringing us into the kingdom of God, where we exist in peace, love and joy. No more tears about the past, no more worries about the future, because we exist in Christ, in the now.

Col 1:15  Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Col 1:16  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Rev 21:1  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Rev 21:2  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Rev 21:3  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Rev 21:4  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Rev 21:5  And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Rev 21:6  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Rev 21:7  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
