Deuteronomy – Deu 19:14 Thou Shalt not Remove thy Neighbor’s Landmark

Deu 19:14  Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

I really like this verse. It has so much information in it for us to learn. The first thing that comes to my mind is all the times I have tried to rescue people from their trials that God has “set…of old time”, from the beginning of creation. It is our inheritance to go through trials because it is through these inherited trials we come to know truth. When we remove those landmarks, those borders, we are doing more harm than good. First, I would like to point out that the word “landmark” is H1366 and comes from the root word H1379.

The word “landmark” has to do with the enclosed territory that is limited by a boundary. In our modern terms, it’s the boundary of the property on which you live. We own two acres, and that boundary is fenced all the way around on the boundary of the property. Did the LORD placed this verse in the bible so we can learn not to short people on their literal property boundary? I am asking a serious question. Is this what we are to learn from this verse? What’s the LORD’S end goal we are to learn from this verse? Is it to make us conscious to be respectful of literal property boundaries of people?

I do not believe that has one iota of the true intent of this verse. There are literally millions of people who have read this verse, and that is all they got out of it. I’ve read it who knows how many times, and that was all I got out of it, “Respect people’s literal property boundaries and don’t try to short them.” What are our boundaries of which the LORD is speaking? He is making us realize the boundaries of what we are to know about Who God is, that is what we are bound to or FROM. I mentioned one boundary earlier, our trials, but there are several spiritual boundaries. One particular boundary that very few know about:

Mat 13:10  And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
Mat 13:11  He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 
Mat 13:12  For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Mat 13:13  Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Mat 13:14  And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Mat 13:15  For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Mat 13:16  But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
Mat 13:17  For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

This is a MAJOR boundary! You and I cannot know God unless the Son gives us this knowledge. He only gives this knowledge to those whom God the Father has given Him to allow to know this truth. If we are predestined from before the world began to know this truth of Who God the Father is, was and will be, then we will come to know that truth, and there is nothing that can stop us from coming to know this truth.

Eph 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Eph 1:4  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Eph 1:5  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Eph 1:6  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Vice versa, if you are not predestined to know that truth from before the world began, then you will not come to know the truth no matter what. It is hidden from you unless you are given to know the truth. “To them it is not given” – it is that plain and simple.

Recently I had a contact with someone I thought had been given ears to hear, but it was not so. I get really excited because I think someone is coming to know the truth, and just as fast as it came in, it left. I want people to know what I know in this age, but that is not what God wants, so my want is contrary to the the truth, and I repent. I am crossing a boundary, trying to widen a boundary that has been twisted in knots of false doctrine. I am trying to make something bigger than what God has intended it be in this age/eon. Remember our definition of the word “landmark” and how it came from the root word H1379 “to twist as a rope”. That rope which is twisted is twisted in false doctrine and in the truth; they are like the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Both the fruit of good and of evil are on the same tree because the fruit is the same fruit. There was not an apple that was an apple of good and on the other limb was an apple of evil. No! Rather, it was a matter of eating the fruit that came from the tree itself. So, here’s another boundary that was set of old, “Of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it.” You cannot just eat of the fruit and know good; with the good comes the evil. They are two, a witness of the truth. One bite of the fruit opens you up to both. You cannot have one without the other. What we have covered is such knowledge. “To you it is given to know the truth” – good for us. “To them it is not given” – evil for the rest of the world in this age. Does their evil cancel out our good? No, because they are given for us, the world is ours; another boundary, and the one I wanted to cover the most.

Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Rom 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Rom 9:10  And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
Rom 9:11  (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evilthat the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 
Rom 9:12  It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
Rom 9:13  As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Rom 9:14  What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
Rom 9:15  For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Rom 9:16  So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

Do you see that we are called from before the foundation of the world, before the border of the world, to be the elect of God and come to know the truth? We were loved before we were ever created because we were in Christ before the world was ever created. We were redeemed before we had ever been born and are told that “all things” are ours.

1Co 3:21  Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
1Co 3:22  Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;
1Co 3:23  And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.

“All things are yours” the world, life, death, things present, or things to come; all are ours. What does that mean? We have established through many studies that the Israelites literally represent the elect in one aspect, and in another way, they represent the world. We have established that the promised land represents the world and/or our flesh. When Israel was about to enter the promised land they were told that the land was theirs. It had already been plowed, planted, houses were already built, cities were already standing and all things in that land were theirs. God had promised it to them in Abraham. We are those spiritual Israelites, and the world is the promised land. Everything that has been created, is being created, or will be created is done for us. The world is, was created for us, past, present and future, and we were created for Christ, and Christ was created for the Father. “For all things are yours, the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s”. We are told in this world that this is not right and that God loves all people and that when He said He hated Esau He really did not mean that. That is a lie and a moving of a boundary, or at least an attempt to move a landmark placed there before the world began “of old”.

Deu 19:14  Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

“They of old time” are Christ and His Father, which have “SET” in our inheritance that which we shall inherit – the world. I must point out that this setting of our inheritance is exactly that. It is in the Qal stem (H8804) and is an ongoing thing, and the word “set” is the root of the word landmark.

Our inheritance is like the inheritance which was given to the Israelites. The land was being worked, the buildings were being built by the inhabitants of the land of Canaan; all for the purpose of handing it over to the Israelites. God had planned it this way and is why He had started this land by the cursed lineage of Ham’s son Canaan.

Gen 9:20  And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
Gen 9:21  And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
Gen 9:22  And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
Gen 9:23  And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
Gen 9:24  And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
Gen 9:25  And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
Gen 9:26  And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
Gen 9:27  God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Gen 10:6  And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

Gen 10:15  And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,
Gen 10:16  And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,
Gen 10:17  And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,
Gen 10:18  And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.
Gen 10:19  And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.
Gen 10:20  These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

So, God used the Canaanites to inhabit the land and build it for the nation of Israel. We know that the land of Canaan represents our own bodies before we come to know the truth and that our bodies are a servant to our new man. Yes, the literal world will be ours and is promised to us, but that has not come yet. We have not yet reached the Jordan. That time will come and the world will be conquered by us during the thousand-year reign.

Rev 20:1  And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3  And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Rev 20:4  And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Rev 20:5  But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6  Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 

Rev 5:8  And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
Rev 5:9  And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Rev 5:10  And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

This is a boundary that cannot be broken. We were created by Christ to rule the world for a thousand years as kings. We must first see ourselves as Canaan, cursed by God, before we can see ourselves as being blessed by God, like Shem, Noah’s other son. We must first see that we have attempted to remove all boundaries as Ham did to his father before we can become Shem and Japheth. We cannot reign until we see ourselves as slaves to sin, without a will of our own, void of any truth, without any form of goodness and darkness upon the face of our understanding before we can be shown ourselves as kings, see light.

Gen 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 
Gen 1:3  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Gen 1:4  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Christ is the light to our world that exposes what has been hidden in darkness. His light becomes our light, and we become that very light. We are a light because He is The Light.

Joh 8:12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Mat 5:14  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Which is it? Is He the light, or are we the light?  We are the light BECAUSE HE IS THE LIGHT. We are not a light separate from The Light, we are not a light unto ourselves and from ourselves by our supposed freewill. We are a reflection of The Light, for we are His body, and we move and do as The Light moves us do according to His will. As a man and woman together make one, so we are the wife of Christ, and as a wife we are submissive to The Husband and reflect His will. This is a landmark, a boundary, that is like the three-fold cord, that through the process of judgment (the meaning of the number three) is not easily broken.

Ecc 4:12  And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

It is through the process of judgment on our old man that the new man is established. The three-fold cord represents the process of judgment we go through to come to see the truth, and that truth is not easily broken. However, many are called and few are chosen to understand and KEEP the truth. If we are twisted together through judgment and become the landmark, the light, then we will reign and rule with Christ for a thousand symbolic years. That is a boundary that cannot be moved by anyone because that boundary was given to us before the world began. Now, how are we to see this verse?

Deu 19:14  Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

Notice how it says not to remove “thy neighbour’s landmark” which has been set “in thine inheritance” which “thou shalt inherit” in the land which the LORD our God gives us to possess. The twisted boundary of false doctrine is to be left in thy neighbor unless that neighbor is an elect. We are to preach in season and out of season, be ready to give an account of the hope we have in Christ. Also, we are to be mindful to entertain all, because we do not know when we are entertaining an elect of God, an angel. If we share that word and it is rejected, shake off the dust on your feet, the person, and move on, after the third admonition, such is called an heretic and left to himself until the white throne judgment where they will converted.

2Ti 4:1  I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2Ti 4:2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Heb 13:1  Let brotherly love continue.
Heb 13:2  Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Mar 6:11  And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Tit 3:10  A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
Tit 3:11  Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

These are all part of the boundary that we are inheriting and landmarks we are not to remove. Although we are the elect of God and marked to rule the world, if we endure unto the end, that does not mean we are to look down on the rest of the world or to treat them in any other way than we would treat ourselves. Although they do not know the truth in this age, they are still our brothers, who will be converted in the life to come. We must never forget who we are and what our calling is, was and will be. Every person who has ever lived or will live is exactly what God destined they be, it is not our job to change them, this is a boundary we must never move. God has not made us judges of this world, now. That day will come, but it is not here now. We must live to God and keep ourselves unspotted from the world. We are not to entangle ourselves in politics or this worldly system in this age. We are being prepared for that day, but it is not here now. We are to rule our own world, within, before we are suitable to rule the world outwardly. May God grant us that truth now, in this aion/age.

1Co 6:2  Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the worldand if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1Co 6:3  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
