Deu 1:24 And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.

[January 5, 2018 Study]

"they turned"- H6437- A primitive root; to turn; by implication to face, that is, appear, look, etc.: - appear, at [even-] tide

"went up"- H5927 - A primitive root; to ascend, intransitively (be high) or active (mount)

"into the mountain" H2022 - A shortened form of H2042; a mountain or range of hills (sometimes used figuratively): - hill (country), mount (-ain), X promotion.

"valley" - H5158- From H5157 in its original sense; a stream, especially a winter torrent; (by implication) a (narrow) valley (in which a brook runs); also a shaft (of a mine): - brook, flood, river, stream, valley.

H5157- A primitive root; to inherit (as a (figurative) mode of descent), or (generally) to occupy; causatively to bequeath, or (generally) distribute, instate: - divide, have ([inheritance]), take as an heritage, (cause to, give to, make to) inherit, (distribute for, divide [for, for an, by], give for, have, leave for, take [for]) inheritance, (have in, cause to be made to) possess (-ion).

"Eshcol" - H812 - The same as H811; Eshcol, the name of an Amorite, also of a valley in Palestine: - Eshcol. H811-Probably prolonged from H810; a bunch of grapes or other fruit: - cluster (of grapes).

We face and then ascend into the promotion that we are the sons of God in religion. Once we have ascended and our eyes have been opened, we see what our inheritance is. We are shown what we are in the flesh, represented by the giants. We are then shown a cluster of grapes like we've never seen. We then realize that from these grapes God makes wine, the wine of the fierceness of wrath upon these giants in our land. This is the story of the inheritance of the Elect of God; to be shown what your flesh is and how it must be destroyed. We must be shown that everything we are must be destroyed and sacrificed for the greater good of the rest of mankind in the millenium, to fill up of the sufferings of Christ that are left. From birth the Israelites were told who they were, they were told stories of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and now they have Moses leading them through the desert. But now they are brought to their promised land, all that they were waiting for, the fulfillment of the promise to Abraham, and what is it?

The Israelites found their promised land to be a place of war, of fighting, of suffering and death. Translated in spiritual language, it means we as members of the Body of Christ, as the Israel of God, must die to everything we have ever known as good in the flesh. This is in total contrast to what we heard in Babylon, in religion. We were told to make a ten-second sinner's prayer, give your life to Jesus, get baptized, and as long as you do good, life will be blessed with possessions, happiness and in the end your place in a heavenly realm called heaven for eternity. But if you do evil of your own choosing, then you will be cursed with evil times, no money and in the end a place where you will be tormented in literal flames for all of eternity.

Deu 1:25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.
Deu 1:26 Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:
Deu 1:27 And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
Deu 1:28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

These above four verses are saying things in the natural, but if we compare them to these next verses, we can see the spiritual. This is beginning to see what we can inherit as sons of God.

Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Heb 6:2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
Heb 6:3 And this will we do, if God permit.

These first three verses are the spiritual in facing the promotion and ascending the promotion in Christ as babes in Christ.

Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Heb 6:7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
Heb 6:8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

These last five verses are spiritually seeing what's over the mountain in the valley of Eshcol and realizing it's not what you expected, so we shrink back from it and say;

Let's translate it from another tongue;

Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Heb 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Heb 10:30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
Heb 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Heb 10:32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated (ascending up the mountain and looking over), ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
Heb 10:33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
Heb 10:34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
Heb 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
Heb 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Heb 10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
Heb 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back (cry that the giants in my land are to big), my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Heb 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

If we fall into unbelief after we have seen over the mountain, there remains no more sacrifice for unbelief, but a fearful looking for of judgment by God in the wilderness for forty years until the flesh is destroyed. We will spend our life running from the giants, only to face them again in the second resurrection. We will be so humiliated and shamed that we will not be able to stand in the sight of anyone. Our giants will overcome us, and what we knew as ourselves will cease to exist.

Deu 1:29 Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.
Deu 1:30 The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
Deu 1:31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
Deu 1:32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
Deu 1:33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

It is amazing to us as we begin to have our eyes opened, that when we read verses like Deu 1:30, we realize that while we were in the world (Egypt) God had created all of the trial of Egypt FOR US, and Pharaoh for us.

Rom 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

To whom was God showing His power? Us! Why? So that we could see later that He creates the biggest giants, even Pharoah, for our admonition and learning. Pharoah is our old man of sin!

Gen 45:20 Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours.

We were not taught this in Babylon. No, Babylon taught us that God created all, they even got it that God had created Egypt, and Egypt was a type of us being enslaved in the world. Then somehow they turn it all around and say that God did not create my evil in Egypt, I did it. This false doctrine of man's free will has so permeated every aspect of life that no man can find his way; but it must be first that we believe the lie before the truth.

Ecc 3:10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
Ecc 3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world (Egypt) in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

I'm pointing all this out to say that in the book of Hebrews we read about those who shrink back, about those who sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of truth, is the same thing as these physical Israelites who were afraid of the giants. Religion is the giant that keeps the hungry soul from eating the fruit of the tree of life. Religion in one aspect, in type and figure, is the Cheribums with a flaming sword that keeps us from eating of the fruit and living forever:

Pro 16:27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

Pro 26:20 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
Pro 26:21 As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

Religion is the devil's way of keeping us from truth. The devil wants us to focus on what we can offer to God from our own creation like Cain (Gen 4:3-5), and if we can offer something good, then it's obvious we can also offer bad things. We can make ourselves accepted to God, attractive for Him to want, or we can make ourselves unacceptable to God, unattractive to Him. We believe and are taught from birth, that if we put enough lipstick on the pig, it will become a lamb. The more makeup we put on, self-righteous, religious deeds, the more we look like a whore to God and must be divorced for spiritual adultery, so that we can learn what a true wife is like.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Gen 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. (tilling the ground is suffering through the good and evil)
Gen 3:24 So he drove out (H1644) the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

God is in the process of creating us. We were not created once and left on our own to work out our way to heaven or hell, as is taught by Babylon;

Gen 1:27 And creating is the Elohim humanity in His image. In the image of the Elohim He creates it. Male and female He creates them. (CLV)

We must go through the lie before we can understand the truth, we must be divorced before we can understand marriage. Above in Genesis 3:24, the words "so He drove out" is from H1644 and means divorce. We must be divorced from our Creator for a period of time until we are brought to the knowledge of truth about what being put out means. I cannot know good without evil, we cannot know how good God is to us unless we know who much we need him. I cannot know that He gives everything to His bride, all is hers, unless I am stripped of everything and understand NEED. If I am void of understanding His care and then I am given that understanding, I have learned something that I could not have without the evil. It is in this "CREATING" through good and evil, through earthquakes and fires, through beautiful spring days with lots of flowers and dark winter nights are we being created to worship Him.

The Israelites were taken to the top of the mountain, but they could not appreciate what they were inheriting because they had never had it. But they had to see it to know what they were losing. This is the whole story of mankind and the truth we must face as the elect of God. We must suffer so that those who will be brought to the knowledge of truth will see the truth through the evil we suffered. They cannot know what we know unless they see it as we do.

So when we read about these faithless Israelites, let us not get too highminded because they are us and we are them. I was told that there was a Creator when I was young, and it has taken 40 something years for Him to finally begin to SLIGHTLY reveal Himself through all the years of pain and suffering. I am just now getting a taste of the fruit of the promised land and how I AM BEING CREATED INTO THE IMAGE OF MY CREATOR. He has already searched my land out, my predestined years are written in His book, and He has written the way in which I SHALL GO.

Deu 1:32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
Deu 1:33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.

Exo 23:20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

Exo 23:23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
