Cutting Off The Hand Of The Wife

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi D____

Thank you for your question. You ask about Deu 25:11-12. Here are those verses.

Deu 25:11  When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:
Deu 25:12  Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity [her].

There is no discussion whatever about who is right or who is wrong in these verses. But when you consider that this is placed right after the statute dealing with a man who refuses to raise up seed to his dead brother and how the widow of the dead brother is commanded to loose the shoe and spit in the face of the brother who refuses to raise up seed to his dead brother, then you might begin to see that these two men are the only two men found in the entirety of the word of God.

That is right! There are only two men to be found anywhere in the Bible. Those two men are both within us at our own time. We are all the first man first, and then we all become the second man at our own time. Those two men are “the man of sin… the beast” within, and “the Lord from heaven… Christ in you the hope of glory.”

If you can remember and apply that truth, then much of the Bible will begin to become much easier to understand. A ‘woman’ will always in some way represent Christ’s church, either before or after leaving her first love. In this case the ‘woman’ represents Babylon, attempting to uphold and preserve “another Jesus” by exterminating the “seed of the woman”, which we were just told was raising up seed to his dead brother. Christ is also our “dead brother” to whom you and I should be raising up seed.

Isa 53:8  He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

It will be through you and I raising up seed to our dead Brother and never attempting to destroy the seed of our brother with the hand of a woman, that this next verse will be fulfilled.

Psa 22:30  A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
Psa 22:31  They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Christ declared this all to us even before we were “born” of His spirit.

Eph 2:1  And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Eph 2:2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Eph 2:3  Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Eph 2:4  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Those who are “in Christ” and who also have Christ “in them” will be “accounted to the Lord for a generation.” Contrary to what is taught by so many who fail to see the is, was and will be Christ; this is not a certain end-time generation, except in the sense that “the ends of the ages have come upon” all who have come to know God and His Son since Christ.  That is those who “will be accounted to Him for a generation.”

1Co 10:11  Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

I  hope this serves to help you to compare spiritual things with spiritual, and that you can see that the two men who are striving here are the same two men who were striving in Rebekah’s womb. These two men are identified by these verses, and these are the only two men in all of God’s Word. Every story in every book is only about the struggle between these two men.

1Co 15:45  And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
1Co 15:46  Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
1Co 15:47  The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
1Co 15:48  As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
1Co 15:49  And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

“The woman” will always choose the first Adam, just as Eve did. The ‘woman’ of Deu 25:11-12 is Eve, and Eve is Babylon, which is always striving to destroy the True seed, which is represented by a brother who dies with no seed. While we all first do what this woman did, and we will defend the first Adam, against the last Adam, we must be willing to raise up seed to our dead brother, and we must never side with our first Adam against the last Adam.
Your brother in “a seed accounted to the Lord for a generation”.

Mike
