The Foolishness Of Preaching
Hi Mike:
I think that my wife and I first started to see the truth in the Word because of the foolish preaching of the church that most certainly did not line up with the Word. This is what we believe is the reason we came out of the church. We are still learning from sources we have been led to by the Spirit of Christ within us, and thank the Lord continually for this greatest of gifts.
Do you believe that is what Paul is getting at in 1Co 1:21?
Thanks again for your prompt replies and Godly wisdom.

Hi R____,
It is always good to hear from you and to see what God’s spirit is working in your lives.
You ask what I think is meant by 1Co 1:21?
1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
“In the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom, knew not God,” is the same thing as saying that “No man can come to God except the spirit drag him.”
Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw Greek, drag] him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
So the answer to your question is that 1Co 1:21 is telling us that it took a miracle “in the wisdom of God,” to blind you and me and to keep you and me from seeing what is plainly written in God’s Word for so many years of our lives. Then “by the foolishness of preaching” the truths of God’s Word, we were both given the second miracle of being healed of our blindness, and being given eyes that can see and ears which can now hear the plain Truths of God’s Word.
Notice how it is worded: ” It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”
Preaching the doctrines of Babylon does not “save them that believe” those doctrines of “another Jesus with another gospel and another spirit,” but the True Christ with His true gospel and true spirit does “save them that believe,” even though it is foolishness to the natural man who cannot receive that preaching.
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
So God’s Truth, which is ‘foolishness’, and cannot be spiritually discerned by those in Babylon, is “clearly seen” by those to whom it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven within.”
Mat 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
Mat 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Mat 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Where is that secret kingdom which is “foolishness to the natural man?”
Luk 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
Luk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
I hope this helps you to see that “the foolishness of preaching” refers to the truths of God’s Word and not to the lies of orthodox Christian teaching.
God bless you both as you seek the mind of Christ in all things.
Your brother in Christ.
Mike
