Deuteronomy - Deu 7:16-19 Have No Pity on the "Legions" of Nations Within Us

Deu 7:16  And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.
Deu 7:17  If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?
Deu 7:18  Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;
Deu 7:19  The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.

We must remember that these nations are within us. They are "legion" for there "are many" unclean spirits/nations that exist within us.

Mar 5:1  And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
Mar 5:2  And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Mar 5:3  Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
Mar 5:4  Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
Mar 5:5  And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
Mar 5:6  But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
Mar 5:7  And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
Mar 5:8  For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
Mar 5:9  And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

Many prideful, self-centered, self-seeking nations have created many doctrines of devils which torment us daily. These nations are all exposed for who they are by the tongue. It is where we see who we are dealing with and who these nations are. They are unforgiving to their brother, they are self-exalting, they are liars, they are created for destruction and the life of the new man to feed on.

Mat 24:28  For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Luk 16:19  There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Luk 16:20  And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luk 16:21  And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luk 16:22  And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luk 16:23  And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luk 16:24  And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luk 16:25  But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luk 16:26  And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Luk 16:27  Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
Luk 16:28  For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luk 16:29  Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luk 16:30  And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luk 16:31  And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

I know we recently went over this parable, but the LORD of all showed me some more things that needed to be discussed. The LORD put James in my mind and the verse about how the tongue kindles a fire.

Jas 3:5  Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
Jas 3:6  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

After thinking on this verse He then led me back to the parable of the rich man and Lazarus where the rich man said:

"That he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame"

The words "Cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame" were used by God to connect the thoughts together about the nations within us.  My flesh thinks that it is rich in wisdom, has all the answers, that it is a god independent from the God. It boasts of things that the flesh thinks it has done, things it thinks it built, money it's made and so on. Anything the flesh can boast about it does.

I catch myself talking about things I think I do, and then the thought goes through my mind, "You didn't do that, God did." When driving down the road if someone pulls out in front of me, or is going too slow, then instantly I am thinking evil thoughts about them as though they have control over what they're doing. I am tormented in the flames that the little tongue kindles. Like the scripture says:

Jas 3:3  Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Jas 3:4  Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

Jas 3:7  For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
Jas 3:8  But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

One minute I can be thinking on things of the LORD, then walk into a store, run into someone I know, and the little member starts kindling the fire about something. The beauty of this story is that I AM BURNING, I AM ON FIRE. The LORD has my 'rich man' on fire constantly, tormenting him until he is finally, totally consumed by the fire. Lazarus walks on the fire, my new man lives in the fire and is not burnt by it because he is created in the image of the fire, by the baptism of fire of the Spirit of Christ. What the flesh sees as tormenting, as hades, the new man is seeing as peace and tranquility. I have joy in the death of the old man, and the old man struggles in torments trying to stay alive. Lazarus can only be in Abraham's bosom if the rich man is in Hades. I can only be in the kingdom of God if my old man is being tormented by the fire. If I am not being tormented by the fire, then I am in darkness, not Hades. It is in Hades being burned by the fire that the Elect see the new man.

Pro 14:32  The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

Psa 116:15  Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

Job 7:15  So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life.
Job 7:16  I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity.

"My soul chooses strangling and death rather than life. I LOATHE IT." I loathe the life of the old man because I know this flame comes from him, but at the same time I love the fact that I am on fire. God uses the tongue of the old man to create a fire like he has never seen before;

Exo 9:24  So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

The beauty of this fire is that it is a cleansing fire. It cleanses me to my core by killing my old man, it is a sweet savor that I have grown to love;

Lev 8:21  And he washed the inwards and the legs in water; and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar: it was a burnt sacrifice for a sweet savour, and an offering made by fire unto the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.

It is a sweet savor because all the flesh's works are being burned like wood, hay and stubble. His boasting, his songs of self praise are the very things which God has formed in him to use as fire to make me into the new man if I am not burned by this fire then I am not abiding in Christ, I am abiding in the man of sin. My old man will NEVER abide in Christ. He will NEVER live in peace, and he will NEVER enter the kingdom of God. However, my new man has from the beginning of the world abided in Christ. He is abiding in Christ, and he will always abide in Christ. None can take him out of Christ's hand, because it was not the new man's choice to abide. He was created to abide.

Rom 8:36  As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

No matter how hot the fire gets for the old man, it will be a place for the new man to stand, for the fire was so hot on the old man that it created a glass out of him for the new man to stand on.

Rev 15:2  And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
Rev 15:3  And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

And we know the the sea represents all the people, tongues and nations within us, then outwardly as those in the lake of fire.

Rev 17:15  And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

These waters represent the sea of men within us, who are ruled over by the Babylonian religions of the world, until Christ enters us, the elect, and we begin to burn the doctrines of Babylon with the fire of the Spirit of God. When it is all said and done, we are standing on the sea of glass made from fire; no more waves, no more tribulations, no more torments;

Rev 21:4  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

The old man is dead, the process is complete, we can have joy in the process now looking back. We can see the reason for all things, for every detail, and it is worth the pain we bear.

Joh 16:20  Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
Joh 16:21  A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world(Note: This man-child is Christ being formed in us, Who will work our world until the completion of the flesh, then we together as the Body of Christ will literally rule the world Rev 12:1-6.)
Joh 16:22  And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
Joh 16:23  And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Joh 16:24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

The tongue may kindle a fire by its boasting, but the fire it kindles is used to cook the very meat that is a sweet savor to the LORD. It is a good thing for the flesh to die and the old man be consumed. Total submission to the sovereignty of God is where the death of the old man occurs and the life of the new man appears. I am tormented in these flames because I want to claim my own works.  But there is a great gulf fixed between my prideful flesh and my humble new man. The old man can never know the peace of the new man even though he can see it, because peace cannot come from him, for he is sin and there is no peace in sin.

Psa 38:3  There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
Psa 38:4  For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
Psa 38:5  My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.
Psa 38:6  I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.
Psa 38:7  For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.
Psa 38:8  I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
Psa 38:9  Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.
Psa 38:10  My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
Psa 38:11  My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
Psa 38:12  They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
Psa 38:13  But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
Psa 38:14  Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.

We are to consume all the nations within us, and these nations are consumed by the flames of the tongue of the old man. He is burned by his own words, they testify against him. The words that come out of my own mouth are what consumes me.

Mat 12:36  But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

This is my DAY of judgment and the death of the old man by fire. I should not pity the old man or be afraid of him. There are more in him than in the new man, LEGIONS, but the new man is One in Christ. However, this One new man, Christ, can destroy all that the old man has to throw at me. I am reminded by scripture of what Christ has done to Satan, Pharaoh, in the whole of the world, Egypt. He has bound him and destroyed him and the world with His death and resurrection. In Christ's death and resurrection we are resurrected from the sea of death, and Satan and the world are buried in it.

Psa 136:13  To him which divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endureth for ever:
Psa 136:14  And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endureth for ever:
Psa 136:15  But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Gal 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Gal 6:14  But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Where is the boasting and glorying of the little member? It is dead for it has nothing to boast in but Christ and His resurrection.

These verses tell us that the world of knowledge, wisdom and doctrines of the old man is not our home anymore. Our home is the knowledge, wisdom and the doctrine of Christ where we are seated in Christ at the right hand of God the Father. We are able to see everyone we have ever known, the whole world, as being in Christ after they go through the lake of fire. We can call those things that be not as though they are.

Rom 4:17  (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

The nations are being destroyed, all the doctrines that we have ever learned from family, friends, the media, politics and RELIGION must be destroyed. We must not have pity on them as they must die from the oldest to the youngest, male, female, all must die by being tormented in the flames of the fire of the spirit of God.

Mat 3:11  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Mat 3:12  Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

The chaff that is burned with unquenchable fire is the nations of false doctrines within us. It is the old man, it is the rich man.

Deu 7:19  The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.

The new man sees all the trials that the man of sin has been put through - how Pharaoh, the old man, lived a life of trial after trial, test after test, plague after plague - and it was all for the purpose of delivering us from Him. We look back over the life of our old man and see the great trials he went through.

The whole experience is all for the purpose of delivering the new man who existed in the old man, that we never knew existed. We never knew who we were until the day dawned and the Day Star was seen in us, the new man, Christ. We were predestined for this purpose. The old man's life was predestined for this purpose, for the new man to learn. It was all part of the resurrection of Christ in us, rising from the grave of the old man after three days, the process of judgment upon the old man. We must not fear the old man, and we must not pity the old man. We must deliver him to the fire for the life of the new man.

Gal 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Gal 2:21  I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

The old man wants to claim his own free will, his own free moral agency. That way he can claim his own salvation. He can proudly claim, "I am, That I am." He does not want to see Christ as the I Am, he wants to be his own god separate and independent from the One and only God. This is how we do the works of God and destroy the enemy within us.

Joh 6:26  Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
Joh 6:27  Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Joh 6:28  Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
Joh 6:29  Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Look at the words underlined above. It is God's work which we believe. It is not our own belief that saves us. That, too, is a false doctrine. It is God's work that we believe on Jesus Christ. He called us, we did not call Him. He predestined us to be saved; we did not predestine ourselves. He sent Christ to save us; we did not send ourselves. Belief comes from the Creator, not from the creation. We believe because He has given us eyes to see, not because we have eyes to see. He, and He alone, is the Author and Finisher of all things, even our belief. These following verses will sum up the destruction of the nations within us and the glory of God in destroying all things that offend, without mercy.

Eph 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Eph 1:4  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Eph 1:5  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Eph 1:6  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Eph 1:7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Eph 1:8  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Eph 1:9  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
Eph 1:10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
Eph 1:11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Eph 1:12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Eph 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Where do we have glory in those verses, when it clearly tells us we were predestined from before the world began to believe? What possibly could we glory in? He created us, He called us, He dragged us. He turns us from our sin, we don't turn ourselves. He is the Creator of all things through Jesus Christ. How possibly can we claim anything as originating from us? These are the nations within us which must be destroyed daily, for we die daily. It is not a one time ten-second sinner's prayer. It is a life of dying to self, the old man, the rich man, the man of sin, the son of perdition. It is a life of torments for the old man and paradise for the new man who lives in the flames, walking in them.

Next week, LORD willing, we will cover the last few verses in Deuteronomy Chapter 7.

Deu 7:20  Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
Deu 7:21  Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.
Deu 7:22  And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
Deu 7:23  But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.
Deu 7:24  And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
Deu 7:25  The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
Deu 7:26  Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
