Deuteronomy - Deu 7:1 Who are the Amorites?

Deu 7:1  When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

We have covered what the Hittite nation represents inwardly , and the Girgashite nation represents inwardly and today we will cover what the Amorite nation represents inwardly. Last week we learned that the root of the definition of an Amorite is, "publicity";

An Amorite from these two definitions describes an Amorite in the negative as publicly avouching, boasting self, certifying self, charging - giving self command, declaring self, demanding self, determining self, naming self, publishing self, reporting self, requiring self, speaking-talking-telling of self,  and uttering self. An Amorite is said to be a mountaineer. What is a mountaineer? A mountaineer is someone who dwells in the high places of a mountain. What does a mountain represent? A mountain is a piece of the earth that rises high above the flat earth surface. It represents the power, the pride or lifting up of one's pride. The following chapter from Isaiah describes all these descriptions from the definition of an Amorite, a mountaineer.

Isa 57:1  "Also the righteous are perishing, but no one takes it to heart; devout people are taken away, while no one understands that the righteous person is taken away from calamity.
Isa 57:2  Then he enters into peace, and they'll rest on his couches, each one living righteously.
Isa 57:3  "But as for you, come here, you children of a sorceress, you offspring of adulterers and prostitutes!
Isa 57:4  Whom are you mocking? And against whom do you make a wide mouth and stick out your tongue? Are you not children of transgression, the offspring of lies,
Isa 57:5  you who burn with lust among the oaks, under every spreading tree, who slaughter your children in the ravines, under the clefts of the rocks?
Isa 57:6  "Among the smooth stones of the ravines is your portion—there they are as your lot. To them you have poured out drink offerings; you have brought grain offerings. Should I be lenient over such things?
Isa 57:7  "You have made your bed on a high and lofty mountain, and you went up to offer sacrifice there.
Isa 57:8  Behind the doors and the doorposts you have set up your pagan sign." For in deserting me you have uncovered your bed—you have climbed up into it and have opened it wide. And you have made a pact for yourself with them; you have loved their bed, you have looked on their private parts.
Isa 57:9  You went to Molech with olive oil and increased your perfumes; you sent your ambassadors far away, you sent them down even to Sheol itself!
Isa 57:10  You grew tired with your many wanderings, but you wouldn't say: 'It is hopeless.' You found new strength for your desire, and so you did not falter.
Isa 57:11  "Whom did you so dread—and while you feared me—that you lied, and you did not remember me, and did not lay to heart these things? Haven't I remained silent for a long time, and still you don't fear me?"
Isa 57:12  "I will denounce your righteousness and your works, for your collections of idolswill not benefit you.
Isa 57:13  When you cry out, let your collection deliver you! The wind will carry them all off, and a mere breath will sweep them all away." (ISV)

These verses outline the Amorite spirit in us and the way the LORD destroys it. We are loud and stubborn, we proclaim our rights, our will, our devotions, our ways as the ways of God. We kill the righteous and then lie in their beds, their place of rest and proclaim it as ours. We expose their sins, their private parts and then we think we are guiltless. We think we are free from sin and then point out the sins of others. We give to the poor, and then we stand on the streets telling everyone all that we have done. We always let our left hand (the wicked) know what the right hand (the good deeds) know what we are doing, so that we can get praise from others.

Mat 6:2  When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.
Mat 6:3  But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
Mat 6:4  that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

The Amorite spirit dwells in the high mountains, which represent our pride and arrogance. The more we do "for God" the more we proclaim it to the world. We never let any good deed go unnoticed , that we have done.

Mat 23:1  Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
Mat 23:2  Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Mat 23:3  All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
Mat 23:4  For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
Mat 23:5  But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
Mat 23:6  And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
Mat 23:7  And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

We make sure we pray in the open in the Babylonian churches because the louder you get, the more you get noticed. We babble like drunken fools and claim it as a gift from God. We use big words and long speeches to get the accolades from people and never give the praise to Christ.

Mat 6:5  And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:6  But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Mat 6:7  But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Mat 6:8  Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

The Amorite spirit loves attention, publicity at all cost - nice clothes, big hats, flashy shoes, bright ties, short dresses, open blouses, and of course, if you are blessed of the LORD, a big house and brand new car.  Everything the Amorite spirit does is for self-glorification and fleshly gratification, and we call that being christian. Our very worship is a stench in the spiritual nose of God.

Amo 5:21  I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
Amo 5:22  Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
Amo 5:23  Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

We love the preeminence in our lives. We love to recognized as being successful, smart, good looking, and able to speak smooth words. The Amorite spirit is not just one spirit. It is made up of an unknown amount of qualities and characteristics, but it is easily noticed, no matter what form it takes, because it always puts itself out there for public attention.

3Jn 1:9  I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.

What does "preeminence" do for someone? It lifts them up on that mountain higher than everyone else.

The ambition to have the distinction above others is the very spirit of the Amorite. To be publicly seen as better than others, oh we would never say that, but that is what's in our fleshly carnal heart.

Luk 14:8  When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
Luk 14:9  And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
Luk 14:10  But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
Luk 14:11  For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

The Amorite spirit is easily detected by its fruit of self-congratulatory words and accolades. The Amorite spirit always starts a conversation with "I".

Mat 7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Mat 7:16  Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Mat 7:17  Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Mat 7:19  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Mat 7:20  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

God does not gather or take notice of the works (fruits) of a self-righteous, pompous, blow hard who exalts his fleshly works as thought they were from his own goodness. We all have done it, are doing it somewhere in our lives and will do it. The fight of the Amorite will go on until we take our last breath. We may overcome him because we are Israel, but we will still have to fight him to the death. But, the more we fight him, the easier it is to spot him and kill him as he raises his ugly head high on the mountain. Corrupt fruit is fruit that comes from a corrupt tree, and our flesh was made corruptible;

Rom 1:23  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

1Co 15:50  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God;neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

1Pe 1:23  Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
1Pe 1:24  For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

We are made corruptible. All flesh is corruptible and cannot inherit the kingdom of God. If my flesh is corruptible, what makes me think that the flesh can produce an incorruptible fruit? It is the high-minded, self-righteous spirit of the mountaineer - the Amorite. This spirit exalts that which is not able to be exalted, worships that which is unworthy to be worshiped, and praises the non-praiseworthy. It dwells in the mountains and powers of the high places of our minds, our heavens, where the prince of the power of our air dwells. The ruler of the spirits of darkness, the ruler of the evil thoughts of self-glorification dwells in our heavens when we are dead in trespasses and sins of the carnal mind. When this spirit is dethroned, he falls from our heavens, our mountain, our high thoughts of self, and he is dethroned by the Spirit of truth.

Luk 10:17  And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
Luk 10:18  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Mat 21:21  Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

This mountain is the power of Satan and the falling of Satan;

Rev 8:8  And the second angel sounded, and AS IT WERE a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
Rev 8:9  And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

The mountain is Satan falling to the earth, out of our heavens. He was "as it were" a great mountain. He wasn't the great power we thought he was because we worshiped his doctrine. He does become, "as it were" a great mountain to those outside the body because he will gain strength with them. His power will increase in the deeds of the flesh, but this "as it were" his power, is not his because it is the power of God directing the indirect-able into completing His predestined plan. The sea in which this great mountain falls is the sea of men.

Rev 17:15  And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest (where the mountain fell into), where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

We now have the power to say to this mountain or power of Satan that he only has power with those in the sea. We dwell in the heavens of the Creator of all, and this so-called power of Satan has lost its hold on us in the seven nations that were greater and stronger than us, like the Amorite spirit. We will overcome this nation as we have and will overcome the Hittites and Girgashites spirits. Although we are making a distinction between spirits, they are all still just the same spirit, the seven represents the completion of them into one.

Mat 12:43  When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
Mat 12:44  Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Mat 12:45  Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

These are those seven spirits;

Pro 6:16  These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Pro 6:17  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Pro 6:18  An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Pro 6:19  A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

All seven nations are seven spirits, and like the seven churches and the seven angels of the seven churches, they are together the completion of one nation. Just as there are seven literal continents in the earth, all those individual continents make up the whole of earth. These seven spirits of the seven nations are the same, they are one nation under the prince of this world, Satan. Who, is "as if it " were the power in and of himself. The real power behind him is Christ.

Rev 1:11  Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches (churches - plural) which are in Asia(Asia-singular); unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Joh 12:31  Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. (the "as if it were" power is cast into the sea of humanity, he has been cast out of our heavens)
Joh 12:32  And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. (we are in Christ, lifted up above our earthly power into the heavens of the kingdom of God, above all the powers and principalities of the prince of this world)

Joh 14:30  Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

The Amorite spirit and all the other nations are exposed for who they represent and we are TAKING  the promise land. The Amorite, self-exalting, publicity seeking nation, has been uncovered and it's "as if it were" power has been cast to the earth out of our heavens, just like the Hittites and the girgashites.

These seven nations are seven kings that make up the eighth and the eighth is the new man we have not seen, in the negative, which is a compilation of the completion of the man of sin. He is the beast we now see, "the beast that thou sawest", that was us, and is not us, and yet is us and has ascended out of the bottomless pit of the false doctrine of our wicked hearts. When we see him, he then goes into perdition because we see him for the man of sin, the new man that exalts himself from public accolades of the seven nations of pride, lies, spilling innocent blood, wicked imaginations, running to mischief, false witness and planting discord. From these we create a new wicked man from our Babylonian doctrines; the man that exalts himself above all that is called God.

Rev 17:8  The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Rev 17:9  And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
Rev 17:10  And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Rev 17:11  And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

What did the literal nation of Israel do once they were in the promised land? They took on all the ways of the nations they had conquered. They served their gods, intermingled with their women (churches), and they created, from the knowledge of God, another nation, even a worse nation than had ever existed, a nation compiled of the seven with the whore setting on top, the eighth. This nation is a beast that has a whore sitting on top of its seven kings, that rules the world within us and the world without. It was what I had made from going to Babylon after I was conquered by the nations around me. I held myself up by publicly announcing myself as the author and finisher of my faith. I saw what I was. I chose Jesus, I kept myself from falling, I cleaned myself up, and I made myself this great mountain.

2Ki 21:9  But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

Eze 5:5  Thus saith the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.
Eze 5:6  And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.

This is what we do. This is what the world does through religion. It exalts itself above everyone else, above even God Himself by proclaiming its own righteousness. We take on all the seven nations, all the seven heads and become the Harlot that exalts herself as the one who controls the beast by riding on top of it. This is the publicity she desires and the eighth that is of the seven. Literal Israel exalted itself above the world, exalts itself still today above the world, yet it is the sign and figure of the great whore that will rule the world - Christianity. Yet, we know that it is not really christanity but a compilation of all religions together to make one great beast from the seven. It is a compilation of and a mixture of all religions and from the first whore Israel. It teaches to kill in the name of God. It teaches that it has made itself what it is, and it is blessed by God. It teaches a man can be a woman, a woman a man. It teaches that all things are pure to him that says it is pure, and we cannot judge it as impure. It teaches that if you point out the wrong of their right then you are evil. They call evil good and good evil.  It teaches all the doctrines of the world and mixes them all together into one title and says "peace and safety" to all no matter what they believe, as long as you don't point to their wrong.

1Th 5:3  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Peace from God and safety from God is what Babylon proclaims publicly. But this great whore that sets upon the seven continents of the world will be destroyed by sudden destruction and will not escape the judgment of God. We are going through that now. We are being examined by this judgment now, we are being shown how we exalt our thrones above the throne of God, now. The latest false doctrines of all are equal, there are no borders of priests and kings, there is no 1000 year literal reign, there is no reason to strive to enter the straight gate because all are going to get there and all will be thrown into the lake of fire, it's all spiritual, NOTHING IS LITERAL, eat and drink for tomorrow we die and are ushered into the same kingdom to which all are destined without fear. This is the greatest of all whores and the mixture of all seven nations into one public showing of rebellion against the doctrines of Christ.

Next week , LORD willing, we will uncover the Canaanite spirit.
