Deuteronomy - Deu 4:5-8 Behold, I Have Taught You Statutes and Judgments

Deu 4:5  Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
Deu 4:6  Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Deu 4:7  For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
Deu 4:8  And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

Last week we covered the first verse of these verses above but never covered the rest of the three next verses. There is so much in them and we're not in any hurry, so we need to cover verses 6,7 and 8 more in depth so that we do not add or take away from the statutes and judgements we are being taught. We have learned that we are to listen to the statutes and judgments spiritually that we may live spiritually, to possess the spiritual land.

So the question must be asked, "What is spiritual?"  What does this term mean to us? I have spoken to many people who say they see things spiritually, but what they call spiritual, I call Baal worship.

There is much more to this story, but for now it is enough to explain my point. At one time I believed the same way this person did; The same doctrines, the same things, had the same outlook on life and didn't worry about those people going to hell, whether I was going to see them or not.  I believed God knew I was weak and would overlook my CHOICES which I had made. I saw things spiritually, didn't judge anything or anybody, as long as you treated people good, were a good patriot, loved your country that was established as a Christian God-fearing country, listened to country music, killed all who came against you or your country, were a stout conservative republican, of course you were saved. If Muslims, liberals and foreigners went to hell, who cares? They deserved it. How does this type of doctrine match up with the words of Christ?

Mat 5:38  Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
Mat 5:39  But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Mat 5:43  Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
Mat 5:44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Mat 5:45  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Mat 5:46  For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Mat 5:47  And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
Mat 5:48  Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Whenever we think spiritually without scripture and two witnesses, we are adding to or subtracting from the very thing we say we believe. When Christ says to love your enemies, that is exactly what He means. When I say, "Yeh, but He doesn't mean we are supposed to sit back and let other nations come against us and do nothing", I have just added to the word. If another nation is attacking us, we are to pray to the God Who not only created that nation but created it for the purpose of attacking us. This is doing the statutes and judgments of Deuteronomy 4:6 which gives us wisdom. We will talk more about loving our enemy, later.

Deu 4:6  Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

To have no fear is our wisdom and understanding. To trust in Christ for all that the Father has predestined will come my way is true wisdom and understanding. To fear that a foreign nation is coming against us of its own free will is of itself, ADDING and SUBTRACTING from the word of God.

Jdg 2:11  And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:

What is the evil that they done? They served Baalim. Baal worship was what the Moabites did and which we went over two weeks ago about how Baalim lured them away after the women (doctrines) of Baalpeor, committing fornication with them and adultery against God. It says they sacrificed to Baalpeor. Any false doctrine makes YOU the object of worship by placing YOU as the priest of his own sacrifice. In the statutes and judgments laid out, God is the ONLY OBJECT OF WORSHIP, and whatever He says is truth - not what I say, or what you say, but what the scriptures say in the sight of two or more witnesses. Jesus Christ is the high priest. So what does the scriptures say about Who sends nations against nations?

Jdg 2:12  And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.
Jdg 2:13  And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
Jdg 2:14  And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
Jdg 2:15  Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

The wickedness in me which causes me hurt and struggles, the wickedness that causes havoc in cities and the wicked who attack other nations, all come from the hand of their Creator. They are His sword.

Psa 17:13  Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:
Psa 17:14  From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

Jdg 3:12  And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD (remember what the evil is that they have done - adding to or taking away from the statutes and judgments): and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD. (who strengthened the evil king of Moab? THE LORD!)
Jdg 3:13  And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.

Serving other gods is adding to and subtracting from the truth - adding doctrines like once saved, always saved and eternal torment. These are adding to the word of God by adding my works, good or evil, as my works to the truth or subtracting my worship of God from the truth. It's akin to serving two masters. When we read these next verses see that the treasure is not literal but what we see as our own worth. Scripture says there are none good and that we are conceived in sin (Rom 3:10; Psa 51:5), but the world and Babylonian doctrines say just the opposite.

Those doctrines say we are born innocent and that we choose to do good of our own free will, or we choose to do evil. This is akin to Baal worship and the same thing as saying that we choose Jesus from our own free will and from the good part of us that is left from the FALL of Adam and Eve. The world reads scripture and takes it literally, then twists it to fit their own doctrines sent by God to deceive them into saying they see it spiritually. We read scripture and KNOW it is spiritual because every word of God is spirit sent to feed the new spirit man inside us.

Joh 4:24  God is spirit, and those who are worshiping Him must be worshiping in spirit and truth." CLV

Joh 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Mat 6:19  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth (earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD, Jer 22:29), where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Mat 6:22  The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
Mat 6:23  But if thine eye be evil (remember the evil of Judges, serving Baal, seeing yourself as doing good or evil as if the good or evil you do is yours, looking at yourself and then God, instead of seeing just God as Creator of both.), thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Mat 6:24  No man can serve two masters (having two eyes): for either he will hate the one (God)<, and love the other (himself); or else he will hold to the one (himself as creator), and despise the other (God as Creator of your good or evil). Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

We will either hate our flesh and not put any trust in it, or we will serve our flesh as master, the man of sin, the high priest of our lives. The high priest of every individual's own life, where they sacrifice, is what they believe is a sacrifice and to offer what they think is an offering according to their own mark of their beast. When I read this parable in Babylon, I thought it was speaking about money, and it is in the flesh, don't put riches before God. However, the "spiritual" understanding we are to get out of it is about trusting in our own works, which the scriptures call "mammon of unrighteousness";

Luk 16:9  And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
Luk 16:10  He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
Luk 16:11  If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
Luk 16:12  And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

Mammon of unrighteousness is our works of the flesh and where and who we believe they originate, and who we glorify for the actions of our flesh - good or evil. If we give glory to ourselves for the evil works we do, we are being unfaithful in another man's riches, because it is God Who creates everything through Christ.

If we cannot give God the glory for our unrighteous works, He will not give us TRUE RICHES, righteous works. If we are still taking credit for our evil works, the LORD will not commit to us the works of Christ, which are true riches. This is seeing the words of God spiritually. This is not adding or taking from the statutes and judgments. This is keeping them, and it is the statutes and judgments becoming our wisdom, giving all credit to God as Creator.

Babylon uses these verses to back up their false doctrines of tithing by saying if you are not giving to the church to support the Pastor, you are being unrighteous with God's money.  We must see our works as mammon.

Either we spend our money on things that are good for our BODIES (Christ's Body), or we spend it on things that are bad for our body. We can learn about our spiritual treasures from how we see our literal treasures, what we spend our treasures on - our time, our efforts, and fruits of our hands. If we see our time, efforts and fruits as products of our making, then we have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon and will receive little from God.  This is why James says to count it all joy;

Jas 1:2  My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations(the evil things)
Jas 1:3  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience (a good thing).
Jas 1:4  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Jas 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Jas 1:6  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
Jas 1:7  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
Jas 1:8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

He said let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. The faith that was tried in verse 3, is the good thing that came from the evil thing. There should be nothing wavering back to your works, which is having two eyes or being double-minded - Looking at what I've done, instead of what God has done; Asking in the faith that produces patience, time tested; Waiting for The LORD;

Psa 37:7  Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Psa 27:14  Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

These things are spiritually seeing the things of God, not through vainly puffed up minds or through dreams or any other thing that is not in line with the witness of scripture. I used to think I was spiritual, like the person I told you about earlier, but few are actually spiritually seeing the things of the Spirit. Most people are seeing things of their spirit, the man of sin. We must be brought to a place where we see all things are from God, good and evil, before we will have the knowledge to give an account of whose works they are.

Luk 16:9  And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, THEY may receive you into everlasting habitations.

I never knew who the "THEY" were in this verse. Who was the they that would receive me into everlasting habitation, which means rest. Now seeing this from The Spirit of God, we can rest from thinking we were responsible for the evil actions, of which we thought were made of our hands. The actions we did in the flesh will be seen as an important part of what God had predestined we do to drag us to see Him truely as The LORD of all things, it's the "they" that is receiving us into everlasting rest.

Isa 45:7  I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

We cannot glorify God for the good which HE DOES unless we see Him for the EVIL HE DOES. We will still be seeing the evil actions, unrighteous mammon, as our doings and if we take credit for the evil we will take credit for the good. He will leave us in ignorance of His power over all things until He turns on the light. We will stay in a state of darkness thinking we have light. Remember we cannot serve God as God as long as we think we are responsible for anything, we cannot serve God and mammon.

Mat 6:23  But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Mat 6:24  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

This takes us back to our original scriptures and seeing things with the spirit. KEEP therefore and do the statutes and judgments by giving God all glory for all things. This will bring the giants in our land to nothing and the nations in the world to dust. We know that whatever comes our way, whatever has happened, is happening or will happen comes from the hand of God. Whether that hand be the wicked men of this world in me or out there, or whether that hand is from Satan in me or out there, it is all of God. God is CREATOR of all things through Jesus Christ and none can resist His hand.

Dan 4:35  And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

Isa 5:20  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Having this knowledge will allow us to be received into everlasting rest from the accuser of the brethren. Who loves to put guilt and burdens on us through Babylon, his wife.

Rev 12:10  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Rev 12:12  Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

When we are given this true treasure from heaven then we can say, "Now is come salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God and the power of His Christ." We have been given the greatest treasure which man has ever known. Having this treasure means our accuser is cast down from our heavens, "I saw Satan fall from heaven."

Luk 10:18  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Satan fell because we did not love our lives unto death, we confessed that indeed the evil deeds done in the flesh, God has done through us, from our evil heart, were an necessary part of life that God created for us to experience, to see that He indeed is all powerful. I cannot claim responsiblity for them, for I am not a god separate and independent from the true God. I give an accounting that indeed the evil deeds I have done were done through me, but I am only the vessel of dishonor that God used at that time to recreate me into a vessel of honor. He used the evil to crush me to powder so that He could recreate me.

Jer 18:4  And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
Jer 18:5  Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Jer 18:6  O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

Having this knowledge allows our heavens to rejoice and receive us into everlasting rest. So may God, Who is The Creator of all things through Jesus Christ grant us the privilege to look at His statutes and judgments in the way He has instructed us. This is my prayer for all of us as a the Body of Christ. May God also grant us the privilege to not let the nay sayers bother us with accusation like Paul pointed out this knowledge would bring.

Rom 3:8  And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

We are not saying all the evil we have done that caused others pain and discomfort, that they should just look the other way. We cannot expect them to see what we see spiritually unless God has given them eyes to see. We are not saying, "Let's kill, steal and destroy because it's for the good." That is absurd. What scripture tells us is for our comfort and edification as the body of Christ, we cannot expect others to receive. We must minister to them in their place, where God has them and comfort them with milk where milk is due and with strong drink where strong drink is due.

These things should bring us immutable peace and comfort in looking at our pasts and looking at what is coming on the earth. Our pasts were bad, but what is to come is worse than the world has ever known. We are given these truths so that we will not be swallowed up with fear from the things which are coming. We are given these things so that we will be built on a Rock, so that when these things come, and they will, we can stand in the storm.

Mat 24:21  For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Mat 24:22  And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Mat 7:24  Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Mat 7:25  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Let's reread these verses and see if we can see them from the Spirit;

He is teaching us as the Elect, those who will rule the world in the millennium, how to keep these words spiritually in the land, the world, which we are going to possess. This is our wisdom and understanding, to see them spiritually in the sight of all those in the world over whom we will rule. They will say, as the nations back then said:  "Surely this is a wise and understanding people. And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law?"

Why will they say this? Because what we see is spiritual. We see through them as the Spirit sees through us now! They will be flesh and will judge according to flesh, but we will be in spiritual bodies, able to judge them as we know them.

2Co 5:16  Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

This is the principle we are going through now, inside ourselves. We have The Spirit of God, and that Word is showing us the hidden things in our hearts, where the man of sin used to dwell. He is showing us all the false doctrines to which we were enslaved and conquering them as He reveals them to us.

2Th 2:3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2Th 2:4  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

When the Spirit of God in us reveals the man of sin in a doctrine we have lived by, then it is consumed by the Spirit of His Word and destroyed by the revealing of the brightness of the revelation of Jesus Christ in us.

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
Rev 1:2  Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
Rev 1:3  Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

The time was not at hand two thousand years ago, but now. The time of the revealing of the man of sin and the revelation of Jesus Christ in us which destroys that man IS NOW; every day, every hour and every minute of every day. This keeping the statutes and judgments of The LORD, which burn with unquenchable fire, consumes all that I thought was mine.

1Co 3:13  Every man's work shall be made manifest: for THE DAY shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

Next week, LORD willing, we will cover Deuteronomy 4:9-14.
