Deu 16:1 Keep the Passover Unto the LORD thy God

[Study Aired May 15, 2020]

Deu 16:1  Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.

Observe, (H8104-means to guard or hedge about) the month, (H2320-new moon-new church) of Abib, (H24- fresh, young ears) and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month, (H2320-new moon-new church) of Abib (H24-fresh, young ears) the LORD thy God brought thee forth (H3318 in the hiphil stem H8818-meaning the LORD thy God is the causitive action of the bringing forth out of Egypt) out of Egypt by night (in the new church-new moon, month of the tender plant, Abib).

This being brought forth out of Egypt is synonymous with growing up as a tender plant out of dry ground (no rain, no correct doctrine), or out of Babylon, which is Egypt.

Isa 53:2  For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

We are that new church which grows up out of Christ, Who is the original tender plant. We are His skin and bones. He grows into a Tree, and we grow from that Tree.

Eph 5:30  For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

The Babylonian church is, was and will always be in the wilderness, dry ground.

Rev 17:3  So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Christ was the first to come out of her and expose her for her false doctrine. Today, we are doing the same thing. When Christ came out of her, it was not a one-time act 2000 years ago. He is still doing it today in us, in this eon. Because we are built up into Him as living stones, we are the rest of His body still coming up out of her, still coming out of the wilderness in our own earth, which is the ground.

1Pe 2:4  To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
1Pe 2:5  Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Let’s look at Isaiah 52:2 again in the KJV-TVM.

Isa 53:2  For he shall grow upH5927 [H8799] beforeH6440 him as a tender plantH3126, and as a rootH8328 out of a dryH6723 groundH776: he hath no formH8389 nor comelinessH1926; and when we shall seeH7200 [H8799] him, there is no beautyH4758 that we should desireH2530 [H8799] him.

The growing up is in the Qal stem – H8799, the same thing as the Greek Aorist tense – continual. The word “before” is H6440- paw-neem meaning “face”. The words “tender plant” H3126 means – “a sucker; hence a twig (of a tree felled and sprouting): – tender plant”. The word “root” is H8328 means – “bottom, deep, heel, or root”. The words “out of a dry”H6723 is “to parch; aridity; concretely a desert: – barren, drought, dry (land, place), solitary place, wilderness”. And the word “ground” means H776- “the earth (at large, or partitively a land): –  X common, country, earth, field, ground, land, X nations, way, + wilderness, world”.

When we put these together into a sentence with the sum of God’s word, we understand that we are growing up in the face of God in Christ as a young tree – as a sucker that grows from a fallen tree – out of the deep abyss of Babylonian doctrine, out of the wilderness of our dry earth where nothing can grow. Christ is springing up in us (in qal stem) continually and growing into a tree which will fill our earth and the earth to come. The first tree is the man of sin, and the second tree is Christ. While we are in Christ, we feed off the fallen tree (Mat 24:28).

Dan 4:10  Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great. [great in our own eyes]
Dan 4:11  The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth: [ends of my earth]
Dan 4:12  The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.
Dan 4:13  I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;
Dan 4:14  He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
Dan 4:15  Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
Dan 4:16  Let his heart be changed from man’s, and let a beast’s heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
Dan 4:17  This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living [living stones] may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

Dan 4:20  The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
Dan 4:21  Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:
Dan 4:22  It is thou [put your name in there] , O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.
Dan 4:23  And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him; [seven last plagues]
Dan 4:24  This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
Dan 4:25  That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
Dan 4:26  And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
Dan 4:27  Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

Do you see the symbolism in these words? How the tree is cut down and the roots are left, and the dew lays upon it (which is the word of God) is a way of saying that the kingdom is sure to us after we are humiliated in our knowledge of who we are in the flesh. Out of this knowledge we begin to worship God in truth and in seeing that “The Most High rules in our kingdom, gives it to who He wills and has set up over it the basest of a man” – us. Christ was cut down out of the land of the physically living because He exposed the flesh for what it is, dead to the knowledge of truth. Religion wants to handle itself and rule over it in a way that is consistent with its own thoughts of righteousness according to that very flesh which is evil. It is ruled by Babylon, and yet says it is free. It has given its authority to the woman to rule over the man. It is from the mouth of Satan, “You shall be as gods.” It is self-willed and full of hatred toward Christ as King of kings and LORD of lords.

The new moon is the new reflective light we have in Christ. It is new because it is the first time the Son of righteousness has risen in our hearts.

Mal 4:1  For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Mal 4:2  But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Mal 4:3  And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

We are still in a world of darkness, covered in a thick darkness, but we are able to see because the light of the Son of righteousness is reflecting from His NEW MOON, new church. We hear the words of our King now because we have been cut down by the seven last plagues and now are growing up in Him as a tender twig, a sucker that has grown from the roots that were left in the ground. The month of Abib represents our new beginning in Christ as His wife, The Christ, His church.

Rev 21:1  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Rev 21:2  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Rev 21:9  And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues [same as the seven times of Daniel 4:23], and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.
Rev 21:10  And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
Rev 21:11  Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone [Christ] most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

Her light is not her light, but her light is by the Hiphil action of the Stone, the causative action of her light is Christ, Whose reflection bounces from her into the world to give us a light to walk by in the darkness. She reflects the light of her Husband, she is the light of her Husband, for she represents Him.

Isa 28:16  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

Dan 2:34  Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

Eph 5:30  For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Eph 5:31  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Eph 5:32  This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Gen 2:20  And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
Gen 2:21  And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
Gen 2:22  And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Gen 2:23  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Gen 2:24  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

This new church is not new to the Father because He predestined it in His son when He created the Son.

Col 1:15  Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Col 1:16  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Col 1:18  And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Col 1:19  For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell.

It is new to the world because the world has never seen a church that just reflects the light of Christ and does not institute its own light in place of its Husband’s light, with creeds and statements of faith. Every church of this world institutes creeds of the church that reflect their own light, or at least try to do so. These statements of faith replace the the Light with its own light, as though they are a light unto themselves. In this new church, new moon, we are told to keep the passover. The passover referred to in this verse is the literal passover when God passed over the children of Israel and killed all the first born in Egypt. We know it has a spiritual meaning, and we will cover it after we read these verses.

Exo 11:5  And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
Exo 11:6  And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
Exo 11:7  But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

Exo 12:1  And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
Exo 12:2  This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Exo 12:3  Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Exo 12:4  And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
Exo 12:5  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exo 12:6  And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Exo 12:7  And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
Exo 12:8  And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Exo 12:9  Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
Exo 12:10  And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
Exo 12:11  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover.
Exo 12:12  For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
Exo 12:13  And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Exo 12:14  And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
Exo 12:15  Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
Exo 12:16  And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
Exo 12:17  And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.
Exo 12:18  In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.
Exo 12:19  Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
Exo 12:20  Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.
Exo 12:21  Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.
Exo 12:22  And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
Exo 12:23  For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
Exo 12:24  And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.

First, we must recognize that all the first born in Egypt must die. To the world this means the literal Egyptians died and the literal Israelites lived and that’s all it means. To us it should mean that everything we thought we were is dead; from Satan’s first son, freewill, down to the maidservant’s son who serves Satan, which is all the doctrines of Babylon, to the beasts. Everything that we thought was ours, that we thought was good and holy, must die, all the gods which we served in our own lives, the gods of Egypt. As long as we are covered with the blood of Christ the destroyer will not “come in unto your house to smite you”. As long as we see that Christ has shut the door with His blood to all false doctrine, the destroyer cannot affect us. This is the truth to our safety; keeping the blood on our door post and keeping the door shut to all Egyptian gods. All the first born of Egypt must die. Where is Egypt? Who are the first born? Who are the gods of Egypt? Our bodies are Egypt. All that comes from this fleshly carnal mind is the first born who are born from the Egyptian gods we think we are. We believe that we are gods independent and separate from the One and only God. We, along with all of humanity, believe we are born with freewill and are moral agents that can map out our own futures, and all of that thinking must die.

Rom 6:15  What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Rom 6:16  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Verse 16 above, if seen in the light of our subject, is saying, “Don’t you know that if you open the door of your house to Egyptian doctrine, salvation by works of the law, you will die with them, for you are the first born of the Pharaoh. If you do not cover the door posts of your heart with the blood of Christ, which is you dying to self, then you will die with the Egyptian. If you cover the door posts of your heart with the suffering of Christ’s death and you sprinkle your blood, which is your suffering with Him, then you’re dying to the gods of Egypt and living unto Christ.”

Rom 6:17  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Rom 6:18  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Being made free from sin is being made free from the Egyptian gods we served in our religious practices.

Rom 6:19  I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Rom 6:20  For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Rom 6:21  What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Rom 6:22  But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord [The wages of not covering the door posts of your heart with the suffering blood of Christ is death].

We must see ourselves as the Egyptian first born before we can be seen as the Christ of Christ. As the Israelite of old literally put the blood of the lamb over his door posts with the leaves of the hyssop plant, that act foretold of Christ being nailed to the cross and given hyssop. So, Christ’s death 2000 years ago is a foretelling of our own death and resurrection. Is there some spiritual magic thing that somehow applies the literal blood of Christ on our inner man? Is there some prayer I must say that will release the power of this magic? No, there is not. If you have been given to see that you are Pharaoh, that you are the resisting force against the Lordship and Kingship of Christ as King of kings and LORD of lords, then you are dying and the blood on the door posts is Christ’s blood IN YOU. That has manifested in your life, and you are now dying to self, which is the dying of the first born from Pharaoh down to the first born of every servant to Pharaoh in you. When we are suffering for the name of Christ by denying our carnal-minded fleshly worship, it is our blood on those door posts because we are Christ as part of His body. Is that not what this verse means?

Rom 8:17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Whose blood is on those door posts? If you know the truth, then it is your blood because you are a joint-heir with Christ, a joint-heir to die with Him, to suffer with Him by denying self. Christ’s death 2000 years ago opens that door for us so that we can die, and by dying to the Egyptian doctrines in us, we are living unto God. The door is opened to destroy the Egyptian in us but closed to the new man. The Destroyer seeks whom he can destroy with the lies of Babylon. NOTHING is more attractive to us than when we paint ourselves up with the finest religious makeup and the finest religious garments of Egypt. Dying to the doctrines of Babylon brings on the persecution of the destroyer.

1Ti 2:9  In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
1Ti 2:10  But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1Pe 5:8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1Pe 5:9  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
1Pe 5:10  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while [the blood on the door posts], make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
1Pe 5:11  To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Joh 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

We start off as a new plant in Christ, and we should always be reminded of who we are as a new plant. That new plant sees itself as deriving from the death of the great tree, the man of sin. We should see that as the death of the old man. In seeing this death, we are suffering with Christ and daily applying our blood on the door posts or entrance to our hearts. We should be guarded at all times because our adversary the devil walks around seeking whom he can destroy through flattery. We all love to be flattered, and we all love to be admired.

Dan 11:21  And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

Dan 11:32  And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

However, if we are a new plant that is growing out of the stump of the death of the old man, then we have nothing to brag about. The seven plagues or seven times have passed over us to show us that the LORD, not us, rules in the kingdom in us and has set up over it the basest of men, ourselves. That basest of men is cut down as the first born of Egypt, and from that cutting down, the door of our heart is covered in the blood of our death daily. We are both the Egyptian first born and the Israelite. We must be able to see ourselves as both before we can apply the blood to our door post. May God, the Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, allow us to see ourselves in this manner in the new church and as a new plant.
