A History of the First Ten Years of IWWB

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This is the tenth year since this site was first on the internet. We went on line in October of 1997. I hope you don’t mind reading a little history of this site, by way of acknowledging a few of the people over the years who have helped to make this site what it is today.

I get many letters thanking me “and the whole IWWB team” for what we are doing. I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge some of those who make iswasandwillbe. com what it is.

It is understood that God is “working all things after the counsel of His own Will:”

Eph 1:11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

So with that frame of mind I want to acknowledge just a few of the people He has used to do make iswasandwillbe. com what it is “after the counsel of His own will.”

This web page exists only through the united efforts of many. The truth is that I am so technically challenged that if this web page depended on me alone, it would not exist. I am so thankful for the efforts of so many who, over the years have been used of God to make this web site what it is today.

The first person I must acknowledge is my son, Wayne, for talking me into starting this web page back in October of 1997. Little did he know at that time, that God would use this web page to bring to Wayne the only woman in the world the Lord had prepared to become Wayne’s wife. That came about eight years later. After Wayne got the web site up and going, Sandi posted the letters while working full time for several years. During the first several years the name of this website was “How to Scripturally Study the Scriptures.”

Then about two years ago, Joe Beeler was sent by God to organize and format a cluttered and unmanageable website and make it into what it basically is today. It was right at this time that God brought about a series of events that have served to burn out a lot of wood, hay and stubble that was trying to take root on this web page. It was all prefigured by the cluttered and unorganized condition of this web page when God sent Joe Beeler to us to straighten it out and organize and format the page into a more user-friendly page. I had already decided the site needed a new name. I first met Joe at our Mobile, Alabama Bible conference in 2005. Joe and his wife Debbie have spent countless hours proofing and posting letters and articles in a way that makes the use of the information on iswasandwillbe.com much more accessible to anyone visiting the site. Joe was brought to us at a time when we were in much turmoil and in need of his organizational skills. Joe came to my home and set me up with g-mail, organized my e-mails and actually recruited others to help me get caught up on letters I was unable to answer just for lack of time. I cannot say enough about what a blessing Joe and Debbie Beeler have been to the readers of iswasandwillbe. com. Our Lord knows all of this, and He will reward them as He sees fit.

God had also sent Mike Lyle of Chicago to start taping our conferences earlier in 2005 at the Nashville/Hendersonville, Tennessee conference. We had many hours of taped conference talks which Joe started posting on the internet in a way I cannot begin to explain, except to tell you that it is simply linked to our site and is hosted by Google. So those videos don’t take up space on our site and they are free to us and are a free blessing to so many all around the world. Mike spent his own time and money to come to my home and tape several studies on understanding the book of Revelation. Those recordings are available on the site. Mike Lyle is typical of those who helped with this web site. He does what he does just to help others who are being dragged to Christ out of Babylon. Mike is not seeking recognition of men or physical rewards. Like Joe and Debbie, Mike’s is a work of love and service to his Father and to his fellow man.

As the number of taped conferences grew, God also sent Billy Mitchell along to audio tape our weekly Bible studies. I first met Billy at the Nashville conference back in the summer of 2005. As it turned out, he lived just an hour and a half east of me in Elberton, Georgia. Shortly after that conference Billy started attending our weekly Bible studies. After attending just a couple of weeks, Billy asked if I would mind if he recorded those Bible studies. Of course I agreed. These weekly Bible studies are listened to all around the world on the internet, and are all available for free simply because God sent a very good spirit to inspire Billy Mitchell to suggest that we start recording our weekly Bible studies. Billy has spent many hours every week serving God’s people, editing and duplicating all of our weekly Bible studies for going on two years.

I want everyone to know that it is people like Joe Beeler, Mike Lyle, Billy Mitchell, Deedle LaCour, Steve Crook and others who spend their time serving people they have never met, that makes this site what it is. I pray that the Lord will lay this to Mike’s and Billy’s and Joe’s spiritual account as “treasures in heaven”. Billy also hosted a conference in Elberton last year. I have been blessed by Billy’s humble and giving spirit for about two years now. We have all been the recipients of the selfless efforts of Billy Mitchell. Of course his efforts meant that these weekly Bible studies also had to be posted regularly.

This all became too much for Joe and Debbie who both work full time and have a very young family. So just at the right moment the Lord sent Deedle and Marissa LaCour to help us post the weekly Bible studies on Deedle’s web site. Deedle had been doing this for some time already with the conference recordings. Deedle was posting the audios of our conferences before we ever began recording the weekly Bible studies. He does something to them that makes them take up less space, and then Steve Crook links them to iswasandwillbe.com. Deedle and Marissa, along with Deedle’s parents, Kristi and Darrell, also hosted a Bible conference in Dallas this past February. Deedle LaCour, in association with Mike Lyle and Aaron Lohman, are the men who have made the Dallas and Hamlin montages available for all of us to enjoy. Many who are not able to make it to the conferences have expressed how much they enjoy what Deedle has done to bring these little montages to us and allowing those who are unable to attend to ‘meet’ those who were there. Deedle and Marissa are about to have their first child, so congratulations are in order for the new parents.

Mike Lyle did the filming in Dallas, and Aaron Lohman did the filming in Hamlin. Mike was unable to attend the Hamlin conference, so a special thanks is due to Aaron who was drafted on the spot to make that Hamlin montage available to all of us.

But just as everything on the web site was beginning to overwhelm Joe Beeler, God sent us Steve Crook from Indianapolis, Indiana. I first met Steve Crook at the Marshall, Michigan Conference. God has gifted Steve as a web master to help Joe Beeler, and to take over the bulk of the day-to-day posting. Steve has also been a blessing to all who frequent the iswasandwillbe.com site. Steve came to my home and spent his own time and money to get Sandi and I set up with the equipment to tape our Bible Studies when Billy Mitchell is sick or unable to be there for other reasons. He has also spent many hours with me on the phone, helping me with technical problems which I cannot even remember. He is even now teaching Sandi how to post articles on the site as an assistant to him and Joe.

Mat 10:40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
Mat 10:41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.
Mat 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

We are not all gifted in the same way, but if we use what we are given to the glory of God, we will receive our reward accordingly.

Another couple I met in Marshall, Michigan is Andrew Cox and his wife Ann. Andrew has a typical servant’s attitude and copies and shares the CDs with any and all who want them. Andrew and Aaron Lohman and Steve Crook hold regular Bible studies in the Indianapolis-Terra Haute, Indiana area. Andrew does all that he does out of love and not for anything else. Andrew and Ann have been a blessing to me and to many others. I thank God that these two are my and Sandi’s friends and brother and sister in Christ. May the Lord reward them “according to their works.”

I must also mention the constant words of support I have been receiving for so long now from Frank Connor. Frank has been a moderator on the iswasandwillbe.com forums where his humor and his faithfulness to God’s Words have been a blessing to many. His constant words of gratitude mean more to me than Frank will ever know. Frank is not a sponge who soaks up all he has learned on iswasandwillbe like the nine lepers who never came back to express their gratitude for being cured of their deadly disease. Frank considers himself blessed, and he takes the time to say so.

Luk 17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
Luk 17:13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
Luk 17:14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
Luk 17:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
Luk 17:16 And fell down on [his] face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
Luk 17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
Luk 17:18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
Luk 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

Frank’s attitude of gratitude will accrue to his benefit in the eyes of our Lord.

Last, but not least, I simply cannot leave out the endless hours of proofing and forwarding of all of the articles and letters that is done by my dear wife, Sandi. None of this would be available without her untiring help and her patience. God has truly given to me a wife who helps me to serve Him. My poor wife proofs every article and letter I write. She answers all my questions about spelling and grammar. She does all of this between fixing meals, keeping house, entertaining guests, mailing out CDs and DVDs and written literature to those who request it, and working at her job. I cannot over emphasize Sandi’s contribution to what you see and hear on iswasandwillbe.com. So if you see letters that still need proofing, please be patient. Sandi and Steve Crook and Ralph Serpe, a young man from New York who is another gift from God, are working on that every day they have available.

Those are the people who are directly involved in the work of keeping the iswasandwillbe web site going with the audios, videos, forums, and all of the e-mails and articles that are being posted constantly.

But there are so many others who contribute to this site in a very different way and who I feel compelled to acknowledge. The very first would have to be my brother Lonnie Vinson and his wife, Sandy. Lonnie and Sandy, over thirty years ago, were subjected to my overbearing, youthful desire to force others to see the wonderful truth of universal salvation. Somehow, through God’s mercy, our relationship survived that experience, and Lonnie ended up being given eyes to see and ears to hear the truths that really are behind the words and parables that are the Bible. That being the case, it wasn’t long until he was not so popular at his church as he had been. We had been having Bible studies in our home in Flowery Branch, Georgia, for some time when Lonnie asked if we would be willing to hold Bible Studies in His home. This must have been back around 1996 because it was well before we had started iswasandwillbe in October of 1997. We have been holding Bible Studies at Lonnie’s home on the first and third Sundays at 3 p.m. ever since. Sandy always has refreshments for all who come, and all who know Sandy rave about her cooking skills and her hospitality. The Lord is well aware of Lonnie and Sandy’s service and will reward them accordingly.

Danny and Marie Anderson have also supported this site since its inception. Danny and I have shared our WWCG and Concordant experiences starting back in high school. Danny and Marie have been encouraging and supportive of Sandi and me and this web page for many years. The Lord was listening from the beginning, and He is still listening when Danny and I speak of His name.

Next, in chronological order would be Blaise and Gabbi Jacques, who were the firstfruits of our Concordant experience. We held Bible studies in Blaise’s home in Brevard, North Carolina after the Concordant brothers we were meeting with in Anderson, South Carolina told me that I was “just too spiritual” for them. We had been meeting once a month with other Concordant families for over two years when I was finally told of my terrible disease of being “too spiritually minded”. After that, Blaise and I started meeting once a month at his home, and once a month at our house alternately for several years. This continued even after Gabbi died. It continued until Blaise finally had to admit that he was no longer 29 years old and could no longer do all the heavy work he had been doing for so long. Blaise in now 83 and is still abundant in expressing his gratitude for what the Lord has seen fit to reveal to him. A friend like Blaise Jacques is something to treasure for life, and Sandi and I do just that. The Lord also treasures His jewels. He is even now “making them up”, and Blaise Jacques is among those jewels:”

Mal 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Next, the Lord Himself gave me the true friendship of Willard and Betty Rogers, who I also met while still attending the Concordant Bible conferences. This dear brother and sister have been faithful supporters in Christ right from the beginning. Willard is a natural-born ‘people person’ who is full of God’s love and has been a moving force for good with this web page and our conferences from the very beginning. Our first two Bible conferences were at the Tillman’s Corner Community Center, in Mobile, Alabama, and they were hosted by Willard and Bettie Rogers. Willard and I have been through the furnace of fire together. Willard has stood beside me when any other person without Christ in them would has been thankful to be rid of such a thorn in the flesh as I was. Willard’s talk in Dallas on how we “lay down our lives for our friends” is a testimony to the kind of person Christ in Willard is. I pray that the bond we share will never be broken, and I truly believe that the good work the Lord has begun in Willard and Bettie, and now also in Bettie’s sister Fanny and her husband Bobby, “He will finish.”

Roy and Annelle Mundt of Longview, Texas were also at those first two conferences. I have known this couple longer than anyone in our fellowship including my immediate family. Roy and Annelle ‘adopted’ me as their own son while I was in Ambassador College in Big Sandy, Texas. Though we came out of the World Wide Church of God at different times, we have never forgotten each other. Roy and Annelle have been attending our Bible conferences from the start. Roy’s constant expression of his gratitude for the e-mails and articles on the web site and his consistent support of our efforts over the years has been more help to me that he will ever know in this life. Annelle has been like a mother to me since I first met her and Roy way back in my second year at Ambassador College in 1966. I will always be thankful for the love and prayers and support this faithful couple have been for me and Sandi for so very many years.

Another unusual blessing we have been given is our relationship with Dan Romein and his wife Lori. I first met Dan at the home of Willard and Bettie Rogers back when we were still having our conferences at the Tillman’s Corner community center. Dan has been given an appetite for God’s Word which is rare indeed. From his youth Dan has wanted only to know what is the Truth. That is a characteristic of all who have the mind of Christ. All Christ wanted to do was to please His Father. Nothing else mattered. So it is with Dan. If he knows the mind of Christ on any subject, all other opposition to that truth is out the window. There are no gray areas in Dan’s mind. There is only truth and error. That is not to say that he is not aware that we are all the first Adam before we begin to grow into the last Adam. But Dan does not want to take his time in that growing experience. He wants as much of the mind of Christ as Christ will grant him, and once again, Sandi and I have been blessed to be given the fellowship of Dan and his family.

Next, I must also acknowledge the work and support we have been afforded by Nestor Klem of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. God has used Nestor as a motivating force for good in the lives of many. Sandi and I consider Nestor to be a part of our family. I first met him at a Mobile, Alabama conference in early 2005 at the Las Brisas hotel. It so happened that we had both been in the World Wide Church of God and, of course, had lived under the law of Moses for many years and had much in common. It was because of Nestor’s desire to serve, his ability to inspire others and his desire to bring the body of Christ together, that we held several unscheduled mini- conferences here at my house sometimes just a week or so after our other scheduled conferences. Even now Nestor still takes the time to serve as a sounding board whenever I need to talk with him. Nestor has been used of God to help me to see the need for getting away from the computer enough to get some physical exercise. He has been used of God to help to keep me in balance both physically and spiritually. His expressions of gratitude for what God has seen fit to show him of His mind and heart are always a source of encouragement to Sandi and me. God is still using him as an ambassador of His kingdom and as a unifying influence in the body of Christ. I appreciate the time we spend together both in person and on the phone. I always learn something from talking with Nestor. He is very well traveled and very well read. He is a wealth of information on almost any subject. And yet he is also a excellent listener. With all of that information comes the mind of Christ, and that is a rare combination. Like all of us, Nestor knows that God is sovereign. “All things are of God” and Nestor’s contribution to this web page is his faithful support over the years. That, too, is “of God”, and we were honored when he agreed to trek down to Georgia from Canada to ‘give away’ the bride when Julia married our son, Wayne.

That conference in Marshall, Michigan, which I mentioned above, was hosted by Ray Miller, another man of God, who has supported iswasandwillbe since I first got to know him via e-mail about two years ago now. Ray wants nothing in this world but to know and serve his Maker and his fellow man, especially those in the body of the Christ. I first met Ray Miller at a conference we had at the home of Baddrie and Ann Jones, another dear brother and sister in Christ, in London, Ontario, Canada. Ray Miller’s efforts in sponsoring that Marshall conference were used to introduce me to several others who have now become a vital part of this web page. People like Steve Crook, Andrew Cox, Aaron Lohman, Linda Green, and others who have been a great encouragement to what is being done at iswasandwillbe.  All who meet Ray Miller sense in him the spirit of Jesus Christ. Ray, like all who truly seek to know the mind of Christ, has no desire for personal recognition. He is a living example of being a servant to all. The Lord willing, Ray Miller will be made a “ruler over much in the kingdom of God.”

Next are Coy and Mary Lou Brock, who have been serving the Lord for many years as He has seen fit to use them. Coy and I were both, at one time, dyed-in-the-wool Concordant advocates of the false doctrine of two administrations. But Coy was finally led by God to read the article I wrote on The Law of Moses Versus The Law of God back about 2003. God then used Coy’s writing skills to demonstrate for us all just how Christ was “made sin.” Coy has suffered persecution on more than one occasion of which I am personally aware just for remaining faithful to the inspired Word of God. But Coy did not flinch. Coy is a gifted speaker and has been used by God to speak at our last Salisbury conference and again in Hamlin. This year he and his wife Mary Lou will be utilizing another gift God has given them. They will be singing for us at our second annual Salisbury conference. I am grateful for the love and fellowship God has given me through Coy and Mary Lou. But more than that I am thankful for Coy’s determination to be faithful to the Word of God even in the face of persecution. God is taking note of all of our sufferings on His behalf, and His generosity will be liberal.

Tim and Florine Treon, who hosted the Hamlin, Pennsylvania conference, have been supporting the iswasandwillbe web page for years now. I first met Tim and Florine in Mobile, Alabama after a conference in early 2005. Tim has been crushed to powder as have we all who are truly seeking to know the mind of God over all else. Tim’s humble attitude of just wanting to serve God inspires anyone who is graced to get to meet him and Florine. Tim is always willing to help me with e-mails when I need his help, and he has dedicated his life to serving his Creator in any way He can. Tim has remained faithful to the Word of God through all the trials of the past two years. His talk on the need to die to pride came from Tim’s heart. God alone knows all that this couple has done in His service, and their inspired efforts to be of service to the body of Christ will not go unrewarded.

I must also mention the support of Larry Idol of Boone, North Carolina. Larry’s humility and his dedication to the service of the body of Christ are an example and an inspiration to Sandi and to me. Larry doesn’t think himself worthy to be God’s elect and to share so much in knowing the mind of Christ. But this is the attitude which marks all who are His:

Gen 32:10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant;

The parable of the publican and the Pharisee demonstrates this humble attitude of all of God’s elect. We all know we are not worthy in and of ourselves. Larry doesn’t talk a whole lot; he just displays an attitude of gratitude which makes all we do at iswasandwillbe seem very worth while. May the Lord lay all of Larry’s good works and his encouraging words to his charge.

Our next conference is being hosted by another dedicated supporter of this site. Jeff and Sheri Fowler of Rockwell, North Carolina hosted our conference at Salisbury, North Carolina last year. Jeff has helped me with answering letters and far more importantly with his example of fidelity to God’s Word under the worst of circumstances. This past year has been nothing but trials for Jeff and Sheri. They have suffered the death of a loved one and have endured many other trials of life. Through it all they have both grown stronger in their dedication to a loving and sovereign God. Jeff also has weathered the doctrinal storms of these past two years and has been made stronger for his trials. Our Lord is aware of just how hard it is for all of us to please Him and still supply the needs of our families in this world. Jeff and Sheri are doing that and are still finding the time and the resources to be of service to the body of Christ. It is not an easy thing to host a conference, and for all who do, we want to be sure to say thank you for being used by God to bring his people together in His service and in sweet fellowship.

There are many others who write and encourage us often and whose support is worthy of mention. People like Greg and Paige Pounds, Cheryl Milstead, Jason Martin, Paul Cairns, Donna Carlyle, Timothy Vaughan and many others whose expressions of gratitude make all that the team at IWWB does seem a joyous light burden.

Last, but not least, I must acknowledge what Rob Jone’s unyielding fidelity to the mind of Christ has been used by God to accomplish over these past two years. It was Rob Jones who was working with me on the Revelation commentary when we both committed the sin of saying we could be perfected in this flesh. In truth we are being perfected every day, and the only thing that can possibly bring that perfection to its completion is the giving up of this body of corruption which we call flesh:

1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Rob and I were both made by God to see and admit that we are capable of being dead wrong. Do you want to know when we really are all made perfect? Here it is:

1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Until that time we would all do well to apply this Is, Was and Will Be warning from the apostle Paul to ourselves:

1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Rob and I were forced by the Word of God to either repent publicly or go on in our self-righteousness. We were both given the grace to repent of our sins and draw once again on the strength of Truth. We came to see where we had erred in taking the words in the epistle of 1 John to say that we are perfected in the flesh:

1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Rob and I had fallen prey to the very thing we had taught against. We had not taken into account the sum of God’s Word:

Psa 119:160 The sum of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.

Whatever John means in 1Jn 3:9 has to agree with the rest of God’s Word. I am thankful that those who come to IWWB are not followers of men. I immediately started getting e-mails reminding me, with quotes from my own writings, that flesh is of itself sin:

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

So the doctrine that sin is a matter of conscience is in total error. That is why Israel was given both a sin and a trespass offering; one offering for what we are (sin by birth in flesh) and another offering for what we do in that “body of sin” (Rom 6:6). That is why in the New Testament we are told that sin is lawlessness, and anyone who commits sin transgresses the law. Christ never transgressed against His own law, but by being “made of a woman”, He was “shapen in iniquity and conceived in sin” (Psa 51:5) and “made sin” (2Co 5:21). I had pointed out dozens of times that “all the beasts were in the ark with Noah, but they were now under his dominion.” I was the one who had said that sin is not separated from our flesh, which is sin, but sin no longer has the hegemony or dominion over our lives:

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under [God’s chastening] grace.

I had correctly taught that the words “where sin abounded grace did much more abound” was the chastening we endure when God’s Love is upon our lives:

Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

So Rob and I both came to see that we had been guilty of teaching heresy when we claimed one could reach perfection in the flesh. We had not considered the sum of God’s word. Peter and Paul both explain what John meant by “cannot sin:”

1Pe 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

It is the suffering of God’s chastening and scourging grace that keeps us free from the dominion of sin in our lives. Paul explains this in the same chapter where he tells us that sin no longer had dominion in our lives because of God’s chastening grace:

Rom 6:18 Being then made free from [verse 14 – the dominion of] sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

…and again:

Rom 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

That was what John meant by “cannot sin.” A child of God does not “abide in sin.”

We had not sought the multitude of counselors before posting that Revelation commentary. So Rob and I repented before all and took the commentary down until we could take out any reference to perfection while still in the flesh. I received a flood of letters congratulating both of us for our humility and our ability to receive correction. Literally dozens of people encouraged Rob and me to go back, make the needed changes, go to the multitude of counselors and repost the commentary. Rob and I were greatly encouraged with the prospect of doing just that.

I called Ray Smith and briefed him on this development. I told Ray that I would let him and others review each chapter before it was posted. It was at that point that Ray came out and told me “Mike, you know that you and I are the only ones who are mature enough to decide what the symbols in the book of Revelation mean.” Well, I had learned what many of the symbols in the book of Revelation meant from people who had been writing to me. I related a few examples of that experience to Ray and told him that I could not agree with that statement. I thanked him for his part in bringing me to see the errors of that commentary, but I was firm in my assertion that he and I did not hold a corner on understanding the symbols in the book of Revelation. It was at that point that I was made aware that there was more to this than just a desire to know the mind of God. Here is another statement that I will put into quotation marks: “Mike, I will have nothing to do with anything connected with Rob Jones.”

I was quite taken back by such a statement about a man Ray could not even remember ever having met. I asked Ray why he resented Rob and was told that Rob had “gone completely over the top” in correcting a heresy concerning the archangel Michael and his relationship to Christ. I was informed that that correction had been removed from the Bible Truths forum. I pointed out to Ray that while it may indeed have been overzealous, that it was scripturally correct, and that it was nowhere near as bad as the heresies which were being posted daily on the Bible Truths forum at that time. My defense of Rob served only to exacerbate Ray’s repugnance of Rob.

All of this took place only a couple or three weeks before the Marshall, Michigan conference. Shortly before that conference I started receiving a series of e-mails from Ray telling me “I cannot permit you to teach that the book of Revelation is a book that we must keep in the sense of living all that is written in that book.” Ray went on to inform me that if I went to that conference and taught the book of Revelation as a book we must live and experience, that he would remove all the papers which I had written and which he had posted on his Bible truths site. My response was that I could not do anything but continue to teach that “blessed is he that reads and keeps what is written in this book.”

Rev 1:3  Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand.

It was becoming clear that correcting the errors of that commentary was not even really the point that was being made. The real point was that Rob Jones was not to be connected in any way with Ray’s site, and if it took turning to heresy to make that stick, then that was what would be done. I am not saying that Ray said that verbally, what I am saying is that is what happened. It was, as are all things, a working of all things after the counsel of His own will.

Our public repentance was not good enough for those who were seeking preeminence. Rob Jones had to go, so at this vulnerable point it was demanded of us that we deny that we must “keep the sayings of the prophecy of this book” or lose the fellowship of many brothers and sisters whom we had considered our equals in the Lord. There really was not a decision to be made. That decision was made before the foundation of the world:

2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Rev 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book .

Whatever God’s Word is all about, the time for that purpose was “at hand” two thousand years ago.  Here Rob and I were, having just admitted that we were wrong about our ‘fullness now” false doctrine, which we had proclaimed in that Revelation commentary. It was obvious that Mike and Rob were capable of being wrong. Now it was demanded of us to agree ‘keep’ means instead ‘to guard’ [against]. The thinking was that there is no way God’s elect can be expected to suffer His wrath against all the unrighteousness and ungodliness that they have committed.” I asked Ray if he had never blasphemed God. His answer was loud and strong: “I have never blasphemed God, and I will not go through His wrath.” Well, the apostle Paul said that he had been a blasphemer and had been a child of God’s wrath. I will not go into that doctrine at this point in this history of the first ten years of this web page and of those who have been used to make it what it is. All who want to know what God’s Word really teaches about who receives of His wrath can go to the ‘God’s Wrath’ section of the FAQs on IWWB find more of the sum of God’s word on this doctrine. I will quote only these verses here for the benefit of all who read this:

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Eph 2:2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Eph 2:3  Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

This was the trial that was used of our Lord to try and prove all who endured it. It has served to open our eyes to a much deeper understanding of these words of our Lord:

Mat 4:4  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

The word ‘man’ [mankind, which includes everyone – male and female] tells us that all men of all time will, in their appointed time, live by “every word which proceeds out of the mouth of God.”

There are a few verses of God’s Word which very few are willing to quote for fear of being accused of thinking of themselves as God’s only people. Those who think such thoughts are the ones who have the problem of being unwilling to live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Here are a couple of such a verses:

1Co 11:19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

2Pe 2:1  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

When we deny that we must “keep the sayings of the prophecy of this book,” we are denying Christ, who is His Word:

Joh 12:48  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Luk 12:9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

It is the inability to stand up to the heat that is God’s Word, and to remain faithful to the sum of God’s Word when everyone else is sacrificing Truth for unity, that separates the sheep from the goats:

Mat 13:21  Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

God’s Word was being denied. There was wood, hay and stubble trying to take root where Christ was to be our root. All of this painful fiery experience was of God, Who was trying us to see if we could repent when we needed to and to see if we would be faithful to His Word when needed. It was only by the chastening grace of God that all of these people have come through these trials and have been strengthened and purged and scourged and purified by the flames which are the Words of our Lord:

Deu 33:2  And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.

Christ’s Words are “the law of Christ:”

Gal 6:2  Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

We must never deny the Words of our Lord and Master, whatever the cost. This is the attitude of all those I have mentioned above. I am blessed far above most men to be a part of this very special group of people whose lives are lost, to be found; who are blind and thereby see, who have given up all things that they might possess all things. All of the people I have listed above, who still support this web page have endured these fires of the past two years and have come to see these Truths. Rob, and all of these special people, have proven to be men and women of integrity and humility, whose desire to please God exceeds their fear of what men think. They all are willing to be divided by Truth rather than to be united in a lie. I thank God for the friendship and support they all have been over these past two years.

Rob has demonstrated a humble and teachable attitude which is entirely consistent with being at the same time an unmovable rock when it comes to standing for the doctrine of Jesus Christ. When shown a spirit or doctrine that has been tried and found wanting, repentance is in order. If we cannot repent, then our sin remains:

Joh 9:39  And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
Joh 9:40  And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
Joh 9:41  Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

None of the people I have acknowledged here are yet perfected. We all must struggle every day against the beast within. We will all be “dying daily” until we have no more days in which to die. But the trials we have all endured have been used by Him who “works all things after the counsel of his own will” to make this web page what it is today.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to recognize and acknowledge just a few of those who have been used by our Lord to bring IWWB to where it is.

God is calling many millions to Christ. But out of all those millions he is choosing very few. Those who proclaim that the IWWB team and I teach that those few must be associated with iswasandwillbe. com do not know us at all. God’s elect are faithful to the Word of God. They are not following a man. The fact that we do readily admit that it is our belief that the Truths of God’s Word to which we point on iswasandwillbe. com are just that, does not mean that we think that only we and those who are associated with iswasandwillbe. com can see those truths. There are people who have never met any of us, who write and inform me of Truths which God’s spirit has shown them long before they ever came to this web page. God’s spirit is not limited to working through any one man, web page or organization. In Truth, God’s spirit is “working all things after the counsel of His own will” and is using every Babylonian church in this world to bring millions to Christ. It is through the unbelief of these millions who come to Christ that we believe:

Rom 11:30  For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

For this we are very grateful. We have no animosity against those who God has sacrificed to serve as our oppressors. This is a necessary function which must be fulfilled in the plan and purpose of God. There is no room for pride on the part of any who have been chosen of God to be His channel through which He will bring in all the rest of mankind. There is rather, every reason to be humbled that God has chosen us to “fill up in our bodies what is behind of the afflictions of the Christ”:

Rom 11:31  Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
Rom 11:32  For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

Col 1:24  I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and do fill up the things lacking of the tribulations of the Christ in my flesh for his body, which is the assembly, (YLT)

All that is being done is the sovereign work of God. All of us at iswasandwillbe are humbled by the calling we have been given and the opportunity to serve in whatever capacity God has given us. None of the people I have mentioned are seeking any recognition for what they have done or are doing. There are many others who deserve mention, who have selflessly given of themselves to be of service to others. Our God takes note of all these things and is especially aware of those who “speak often to one another” encouraging, nourishing and edifying “the body… of the Christ.” To do this requires that we be humble enough to admit to mistakes and apologize to each other and to acknowledge each other as true brothers and sisters in the household of God:

Mal 3:16  Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

What do “they that fear the Lord do?” They “speak often one to another.” And that is what we want to do at iswasandwillbe; to speak often to the rest of the body of Christ and to encourage the rest of the body to do the same one with another. I am living proof of the benefits of talking with and listening to the revelation of Jesus Christ in the lives of other members of His body. I feel that I have been blessed above all men to sit at this computer and receive from, and give to, many others with whom the holy spirit is working, giving them eyes to see and ears to hear, the voice of the True shepherd.

The next verse in Malachi three tells us just how precious are those who speak often to one another and think on His name:

Mal 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard [it], and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
Mal 3:17  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

I truly believe that many who are supporting this web page are a part of those who are “making up God’s jewels” and will be spared from “the second death which is the lake of fire.”
