Why Must Children and the Innocent Suffer?

Hey Mike,
I watch early morning TV being an early riser. I see these commercials being run by St. Jude hospital about children with cancer, and it's very sad. I think to myself, as I am sure everyone else does, "why do the children have to suffer so much?" I think the Lord has given me an answer. Everyone must drink of the cup of His wrath.
Jer 25:15 For thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, unto me: take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.
Jer 25:17 Then took I the cup at Jehovah's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom Jehovah had sent me:
Jer 25:28 And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thy hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ye shall surely drink.
Jer 49:12 For thus saith Jehovah: Behold, they to whom it pertained not to drink of the cup shall assuredly drink; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink.It didn't say only Babylon would drink of it, but all nations. Regardless of whether one is Christian, Hindu, Buddhist or Taoist, it makes no difference. Everyone must drink of it. Adults or children; makes no difference. God is not a respecter of persons
Act 10:34 And Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:Good friends of mine lost a five year old son by drowning this past summer. I still haven't got over that. I still weep when I think of it, but at least I know why now.
Ecc 7:1 A good name is better than precious oil; and the day of death, than the day of one's birth.But how do you explain that to the parents? You have to see this through spiritual eyes to understand it.
But anyway, that's what I have been thinking about. Everyone drinks of the cup regardless of age, race, creed or color. But then when all is said and done, everything will be made right, and all mankind will understand....Hos 6:1 Come, and let us return unto Jehovah; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.D____

Thank you for sharing this revelation with me. I could not agree more. The depravity of the flesh, no matter how depraved it is, is all intended by God to simply demonstrate why corruptible flesh and blood simply cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Flesh is equated with corruption, and Babylon is the symbol of that corruption. The only thing I would add to what you say here is that Babylon includes all nations simply because God has a covenant with all nations through our common father, Noah, and with his seed which is all nations.
Gen 9:8 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
Gen 9:9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
So yes indeed, God has a controversy with the nations, and the nations are symbolized by 'Babylon'.
Jer 25:31 A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.
Rev 16:17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
Rev 16:18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
Rev 16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
Rev 16:20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
Rev 16:21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.
As we saw in last week's study in the book of Job, 'hail' is defined as 'the Lord's voice'.
Psa 18:13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.
It is all to be accomplished by the Word of God, which 'Word' declares that God is "working all things after the counsel of His own will". As you so succinctly put it, "everyone must drink of it. Adults or children...makes no difference. God is not a respecter of persons".
Of course it is those who see all of this taking place inwardly first, who will be judging the world and the saints:
1Co 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1Co 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
Some of those the saints will judge will be little innocent children. And when we do judge them, they too, will be brought to see what they themselves are without Christ in their lives.
The Bible in not intended to be understood by the world at this time. It is meant to be understood by God's elect upon whom He first reveals His passion, also known as His wrath against the things of the flesh.
