Serpents and Snakes

I am sure you are aware scorpions and serpents spiritually are one and the same, with venomous stings from their tails and mouths! Christ said nothing (the serpents and scorpions, which He quickly summarized as "the power of THE enemy" - a singular ENEMY) will hurt you AFTER he has given you power.

Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto you [you, me, all elect] power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. [all the elect]

The first thing to note is that we are among them, or rather they are AMONG you and me, and they are the ENEMY within and without.

Eze 2:6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou [the elect] dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

Within is the house of Israel according to the flesh, which is YOUR and my flesh today we should be beholding.

1Co 10:18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

The only way we tread on them, who are the serpents and scorpions within and without, is after we are given the power to do so. The power is the Word of Christ, His doctrine, which Luke told us six chapters earlier...

Luk 4:32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

Luk 4:36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth...[Here are theTRUE SERPENTS and TRUE SCORPIONS to which Christ is referring] the unclean spirits, and they come out. [false doctrines, erroneous living, etc., out of you and me]

The power we will be using to tread down serpents and scorpions and not be hurt of them is God's powerful Word.

Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, [...and to tread on all serpents and scorpions...the enemy within the heart] and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

As you are fully aware, we live by every word of God.(Mat 4:4) So before we are given this "power", the enemy within and without just has their way in our life until that appointed time. Notice this carefully as many disciples miss this truth that what we will be treading down is "the power" of the enemy! THE POWER of the enemy. But before we tread it down, they are given POWER to tread us down, the power of the scorpions of the earth, the earth without and earthen vessel within.

Rev 9:3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

These scorpions of the earth are what we were beaten up and trodden down with in times past...

Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, [all the power of the enemy] the spirit that now worketh [is currently TREADING DOWN] in the children of disobedience:
Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; [we were really being trodden down spiritually] and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Col 1:13 Who hath delivered [is, was and will be] us from the power of darkness, [all the power of the enemy, How is this being done?by His Word He is giving us.] and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, [all the power of the enemy]

Satan and his angels treading us down while we were in the flesh, deceiving us, slapping us, mocking us, stealing from us...

Enemies within us by wicked works...

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Col 1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind [we were the serpents and scorpions before with all powers and signs and lying won//div>

Enemies without by wicked works...

2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2Co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers [the serpents and scorpions that dwell among you!] also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. [the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders]

This manifests itself when the flesh literally just runs our life causing us to suffer fools gladly, and we behave very foolishly also - the adversaries without and within doing this to us.

2Co 11:19 For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.
2Co 11:20 For ye suffer, if a man [verse 11-15, Satan and his angels!] bring you into bondage, [either in personal every day relationships that just put us in bondage, etc.] if a man devour you, if a man take of you, [take MONEY as tithes and offerings, your TIME, your FAMILY, and even your HEALTH, and most importantly take away the TRUTH] if a man exalt himself, [Reverend blah, blah, Bishop blah, blah - Spirits of Simon the Sorcerer, Act 8:9] if a man smite you on the face!

"Smite you on the face" is equated to the enemy using his power to tread upon you. THEY HURT YOUR LIFE. Babylon within and without has really hurt us. Now when Christ gives you His doctrine, and Christ is coming in your heart, who HIMSELF is the Power, He begins to destroy "thepower of the enemy". Remember, it is the POWER of the enemy. Literally killing the physical enemy or stamping on literal snakes and scorpions is just a deeper and darker deception and work of thereal Satan.

HOW we tread upon them is only THROUGH the Doctrine of Christ in us, the power of God, no other away, and then you and I will not "suffer fools gladly" any more!

Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Nothing will hurt you anymore because you have been hurt and chastened in times past by these serpents and scorpions who laid the heavy yoke of the law of sin and death upon you...

1Ki 12:11 And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions

....who took your money by preaching that Jesus wants you to give 10% of your total financial income. They want all your time on Sundays and as much time for THEM. Now when you know and understand God's doctrine, you are not going to fall or be hurt by that anymore! Christ is your Sabbath, and your time will be now spent in His Word, which will color your thoughts and all your waking hours!

They tell you you have to celebrate the birthday of our Lord and arrange your life and family's life around days, months and years. You now know all in this realm is just flesh, and you have a body of sin, and Christ's flesh was sin, etc., so you don't fall for the nonsense of Xmas, etc., anymore. You will no longer be hurt by falling into the merchandising trap! You have power within you...the truth!

Your flesh, the Old Man in you, is so gullible and is hurt of the devices of Satan and his angels, but the NEW Man, Christ in your heart, treads down all this nonsense of the flesh, so that you are no longer hurt by them. As long as we have a lot of the flesh way of thinking still in us, the power to be hurt will be there, but as Christ increases in us, we become resistant and hurt less and less of the power, devices and evil plotting the enemy uses to deceive and hurt us.

To conclude, EACH one of us is given this power, this grace, to the end purpose also that we no longer be hurt of POWER of the enemy. The Gift is Christ's Doctrine.

Eph 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ ["Behold, I give unto you power..."]

Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [serpents and scorpions] and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; [all the power of the enemy" is inclusive of their craftiness and full of deception:]

I hope this process of how we once were tread over and now Christ, and only Christ within us, is treading down the enemies is a bit clearer.

Mal 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Mal 4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

Psa 60:12 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

Your Brother whose old man's flesh is being trodden down!
