There is Only One God
Hello Mike,Hi Jay,
I have a tiny question and perhaps you could answer - when time permits.
Isaiah 44:6 " ..I am the first and I am the last (here, Christ is
referring to himself -alpha and Omega - this I understand) BESIDES ME
THERE IS NO GOD". (why then does He say BESIDES ME THERE IS NO GOD (His Father?)
This cannot be words of the Father himself as He has no beginning or
end. On the other hand, Christ is,was and will be the Word, the
spokesperson of His Father. Hopefully you understand my confusion?
Thanks
Jay
Thank you for your question.

The answer to your question is that just as a man and a woman, in marriage are "one flesh" in the same way Christ and His head are one spirit, one God. There is no God but the Father:
1 Cor 8:6 But to us [here is but one God, the Father, of whom are]all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Matt 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Christ claims to be God's Word. He tells us that even God's spirit is His:
John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine , and shall shew it [the Holy Spirit] unto you.
Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Gen 41:40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. <
1 Cor 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
I hope this helps you see how Isaiah 44:6 is to be understood. Christ identifies completely with His Father and so too does His Father identify with Him.
