Is Christ's Sacrifice Continued in Us?
Posted March 16, 2009
Hey, Mike,
Another question: As the sacrifice of Jesus Christ was forever as stated in Heb 10:14...
Heb10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.Mike, the "ever" in verse 14 is the Greek word dienekes which means continuously or continuous. That is why we are a living sacrifice. We are a living sacrifice so the body of sin can be destroyed. So the flesh can be burned up.
Heb10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb10: 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb10: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb10: 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
Heb10: 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.We are his flesh.
Joh 6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.His offering is a continuous offering and as we are in him and he in us. Is the "Christ" a continuous progression and expansion of the kinsman redeemer? The scope of reconciliation is ever expanding to finally encompass universal reconciliation. That is exactly why love of your brothers is so essential and necessary to be learned. I have literally no one to talk to about these matters that are so important. This is all I seem to be able to think about.
Joh 6: 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

Hi L____,
Yes, the sacrifice of Christ is indeed continued in our bodies "once for all" because our bodies are "His body."
Col 1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:There are also these verses which state plainly that Christ is come in our flesh:
Col 1:25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
Col 1:26 [Even] the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh ["in my flesh," Col 1:24] is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.John goes on to clarify his point in this same chapter:
1Jn 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.I hope this helps.
Your brother in Christ,
Mike
